Brainwave Entrainment Sound Sleep for Children: Medicate or Meditate?

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Growing minds and bodies need a lot of sleep as well as fresh air and exercise and many parents are concerned that their kids aren’t getting enough sleep, or that the sleep they do get isn’t quality sleep.

Children in turn often suffer from anxiety, stress, over-stimulation from too much video game playing or over-tiredness from being up too late. Often kids will fixate on upcoming tests or quizzes at school, or playing in an important sports match. Young minds often find it hard to switch off or to get out of the talk track that’s running in their heads.

This is where meditation comes into its own.

It’s not always easy to teach kids standard meditation. We live in an age of instant gratification and it’s a rare child who wants to work at something every day without seeing much in the way of results. Kids will see (and hear) results with music lessons or language lessons more quickly than with learning to meditate, and how often do we need to encourage them to practice those skills every day? Not that teaching kids to meditate is a bad thing. It’s just something that even adults can struggle to do well on a regular basis.

Using a meditation that has a hypnotic language track woven into it allows our kids to get the benefits of meditation without them having to still their minds. Currently, a huge number of our kids have a more than passing familiarity with the advantages of prescription drugs that help them to still their minds, amongst other things. Meditation can act in a complementary way with prescribed medicines to help kids feel more relaxed, calm and at peace.

And for those kids who haven’t been prescribed medication, using therapies such as meditation can provide a more natural alternative.

Hypnotic language tracks can speak direct to the subconscious, providing encouragement and support. Listening to a meditation track at night can help to ensure a quick and easy slide into a deep sleep, which in turn allows the mind to begin the process of healing and further developing the body and brain.

There are different kinds of meditations on the market today. Some utilise hypnosis, while others use brainwave entrainment and still others provide guided visualisation. A good meditation can use all three techniques.

Children have wonderful imaginations and guided visualisation can help them to see the world around them differently, or give them a place where they feel safe. If the guide uses hypnotic language, this will allow the conscious mind to be bypassed and the subconscious can come to the fore and draw out any issues lying below the conscious awareness. Often, issues can be dealt with during this time without affecting the waking life of the child. At the same time, using brainwave entrainment means that the meditation will effectively cause the brain to move into a meditative state by itself as it copies and replays the sound frequencies it hears. Frequencies can be provided for states such as healing, anxiety reduction and immune function support, amongst others.

By using meditation, we can support our children, help them to improve health and wellness, gain self esteem and send them out into the world in a more positive state of mind. When we need to medicate, meditation is a useful support tool. When we don’t need to medicate – why not meditate?
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything you receive… and believe it or not, all of that will make you feel happier.

Being thankful, the emotion of gratitude, raises your vibrational frequency, so that you attract better and better situations in your life.

Being aware, on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given, will make you feel happier.

Shifting the focus off of the negative aspects of your life, will help you see clearly how fortunate you really are, and how there’s something positive to be found in every situation.

Practicing gratitude daily, using brainwave entrainment will change your life.

Brainwave entrainment is a powerful tool that will help you develop an awareness for the power of gratitude.

“When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” Anthony Robbins

Specially designed entrainment recordings will tune your state of consciousness to experience a brainwave frequency that will enable you to focus on gratitude.

The science behind brainwave entrainment involves the synchronization of your brain waves to an outside stimulus, organized in a particular brainwave frequency pattern. This stimulus is introduced to the brain via audio and/or visual pulses, with the intention of altering its state of consciousness. In this case, you are changing your dominant brainwave frequency to the state of gratitude, a vibration that connects you to a higher form of consciousness.

This particular brainwave frequency works quickly and the effects can be felt instantly. And if you practice gratitude daily, using the brainwave entrainment recording, new neural pathways will form in your grey matter and your “happiness” set point will be higher.

We all have a set point for happiness.

If something happens in your life that makes you unhappy, you will, of course, dip down on the scale of happiness. When you’ve processed the experience, (or swallowed it), you bounce back up to your happiness set point.

The same thing happens when something great happens in your life that makes you very happy. You fly with these happy emotions, and after a period of time, you dip back down to your happiness set point.

The fast paced life nowadays, that you live in, is not conducive to a very high happiness set point.

Practicing gratitude will raise your happiness set point…and you will be happier, much happier, most of the time.

An experiment by two psychologists, Michael McCollough of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and Robert Emmons of the University of California at Davis, wrote an article about an experiment that they had conducted. Several hundred people were split into three different groups and all were asked to keep a daily dairy.

Group one was told to keep a diary of events that occurred during the day, without being told what to specifically write about, either good or bad.

Group two was told to record only the unpleasant events that occurred during the day.

Group three was instructed to make a daily list of things they were grateful for.

The results showed that group three, who recorded things they were grateful for, increased their happiness levels-their happiness set point-by 25%.

A brainwave entrainment session made to assist a gratitude practice, will help you connect with your higher consciousness, deep in your subconscious mind, enabling you to sincerely vibrate in a state of gratitude.

Entrainment will shift the focus off of the negative aspects of your situation and help you clearly see the positive, deeper meaning of your experience.

Gratitude lightens the load, helps you see the bigger picture, and makes you feel happier.

There is a power in gratitude, and it can change your life.

Brainwave Entrainment Gratitude Can Help You Through The Hard Times – Brainwave Entrainment Can Help You Find Gratitude

Gratitude is a feeling of being thankful and appreciative, and may be the last thing you think of when you are going through a difficult time.

Allowing yourself to shift out of the brainwave frequency of where the hurt is, will change your perception of the situation, and alter your future experience.

Brainwave entrainment is a technological tool that does just that. Entrainment introduces a stimulus, usually in the form of light and/or sound, to your brain, causing it to shift its state of consciousness. The brain naturally follows any rhythmic, repeated stimulus and will naturally entrain to the recording, changing your state of mind to magnify your sense of gratitude. The recording will help you access a state of consciousness that helps you connect to your higher self or to the collective unconsciousness.

When you are having a hard day, instead of getting mad, instead of complaining, tap into the gratitude vibration.

If you are facing a major challenge and are frightened or insecure, tap into the gratitude vibration.

If you’ve suffered a tragedy, grieve, but also take away something even greater—gratitude for the life you still have. Appreciate life and tap into the gratitude vibration.

Instead of looking at what you don’t have, tap into the gratitude vibration.

Begin to perceive gratitude in all things, knowing there must be a reason for everything, trusting the collective unconscious.

Open up your mind’s eye.

Gratitude makes you feel better…instantly.

Find gratitude in difficulty. It’s easy to find gratitude when things are going well, but as you know, it can be very difficult to find gratitude when it’s not.

Death, illness, separation, and failure, are trials for all of us, but in the state of gratitude, good can always be found, even in the worst of times.

Embrace gratitude during those trials.

Gratitude may be the only thing that gets you through.

You can always fall back on gratitude to hold you up.

Gratitude can make a profound difference in your life.

If you can stop focusing on what you don’t want, and visualize, with help from a brainwave entrainment recording, what you are thankful for, you will resonate and project a much higher vibrational frequency, which will attract events, circumstances, and conditions that you really desire.

How can you be grateful when everything is so wrong?

Look deeper, go deeper into your psyche and see what is happening.

Accept responsibility for what is going on in your life.

What is happening in your life has been manifested through your thoughts and emotions that you chose at some point in the past.

Those thoughts were seeds.

You are the only one who thinks your thoughts. Your thoughts don’t think you.

Since those manifestations are created on what you have thought and felt, it is entirely possible for you to change the script, and minimize the chance for hard times in the future.

When you are not expressing gratitude for an outcome, you are in resistance to the outcome, which places your focus on not wanting that outcome. When this happens, your thoughts and emotions are fixated on what you don’t want, which draws more of what you don’t want.

Creating resistance puts you in a lower vibrational frequency and you will attract like.

Gratitude is an acceptance of things just the way they are, and that acceptance, because you are not resisting, resonates at a higher vibrational frequency, and that will be what you attract. You will attract better circumstances.

Brainwave entrainment will tune your state of consciousness to the brainwave frequency that will help you focus, have positive thoughts, increase your compassion, bind your senses, enhance your perception of your reality, boost your memory, elevate you mood, give you feelings of happiness, and optimize your brain function by stimulating all parts of your mind.

The brainwave frequency for gratitude can even raise your I.Q…a nice perk.

Raising your vibrational frequency means you will attract better and better events and situations in your life, and when a hard patch arises, you will be able to cope very well.

The results of gratitude can be dramatic.

Gratitude not only can help you through the hard times…it will.

Brainwave Entrainment Optimize Your Brain For the New Year

Got your New Year’s Resolutions formulated yet? Neither do I, but they are going to be similar to what I have been doing for the last several years anyway, which is to continue to develop another income doing something I am fascinated by, learning how to build an online business, so that I can have the freedom to do what I am already doing, earning a living following my interests.

I have been following a path of personal growth for a long time, about 30 years, and I believe I am more aware of the internal factors that impact my decisions than ever before, which doesn’t always translate into decisions that an outside observer would see as wise. However, I believe that it translates into wisdom at the personal level.

More and more I opt to create a feeling of contentment inside my body, which is based on what I think only. So I have to pay attention to my thinking.

The followers of AA might call that serenity, students of Mihalyi Czikszentmihalyi (SP?) might call that flow, my Chi Gong master might call it energy conservation, Judith Beck might say I am dealing very effectively with my automatic thoughts, the HeartMath folks would say you have created great heart rate variability coherence, (which I can do) and what life is teaching me slowly is that I can create this physiology based on how I think, which is never contingent on what I have or do not have, and I can create that ‘feel good’ anytime I want.

So it would appear that whatever I resolve for the new year, I need to optimize my brain so that I can make quick adjustments back to the “attitude of gratitude” or high heart rate variability coherence or both for example.

So can you optimize your brain to aid and abet the feeling-of-contentment process? Can an optimized brain help you make wise choices in the business and personal realms, wiser decisions of the heart and pocket book?

I believe so.

And the scientists are agreeing. They have discovered something called neurogenesis and neuroplasticity which overthrew decades if not centuries of neuroscientific dogma. By the way, neurogenesis is the growth of new brain cells and neuroplasticity is changes in patterns of usage of neurons. For example, learning to type or play piano changes the size of maps of neurons dedicated to the use of your fingers in the sensory moter cortex, for example. Stimulating neurogenesis and neuroplasticity are wonderful resolutions in and of themselves, and that stimulation will be a key piece of any change you make, any resolution you keep, because your brain is a key player in sustaining attention on new habits, which is what goals and resolutions are before they become habits. Old habits are actually brain maps, which have to be re-written or overwritten, and they assert themselves in me by leaving me feeling disconcerted, disoriented, which requires a difficult switch of attention from external to internal until I get back to the new brain pattern.

If you want to lose weight, change a job, earn more money, the brain you have and patterns of behavior (habits) stored in it will require a bit more attention initially and practicing any of a number of available brain optimization programs will give the needed attentional skills to deal with a thought or habit which you want to change right away.

If you have ever done EEG brainwave biofeedback, or HeartMath heart rate variability biofeedback, then you understand that you can train your brain to cycle in a particular frequency which might be measured in cycles per second, or heart beats per minute for HeartMath.

I think peak performance should be taught in small increments, like cycles per second, or heart beats per minute.

It takes only an 1/18th second to perceive and interpret sensory data, and I can change the course of my life in that short amount of time.

Using brain fitness tools helps me have a brain platform that optimized for movement in a direction helpful to me and the other humans around me.

Which brings to mind what Steve Pavlina says about resolutions.

“In reality you are never in the past or future. You exist only in the present moment. Even when you remember the past or envision the future, you’re still thinking those thoughts in the present. All you really have is right now. And that’s all you ever will have. You can’t control the passage of time, but you can control your present moments focus. That’s all. No past. No future. Just now.”

Got Learning Strategies?

Truth or Fiction? 40% of new (outside) hires fail in their employment slot between
the first and second year. According to the Center for Creative Leadership – it is
eighteen-months. The company and the new hire enter the relationship with the best
of intentions, but like marriage, the divorce rate is about the same.

The best consultants and headhunters say it is lack of support by the organization, no mentor, no track to follow, and failure to understand the corporate culture and mission.
How do new executives get up to speed and show they are super-stars when they feel
as if they have been thrown overboard by management? Exit interviews of the discharged souls indicate they feel lost, stupid and betrayed by the corporate hiring process.

The secret is holding an experienced executive responsible for both the original hire and requiring the new executive to stick to the fast-track. It is a mentor program on steroids because there are bonuses for the mentor and mentee. Forty-percent
failure is just too damn expensive to blame on the Human Resources department.

Speed Reading Holds a Key

Many of these exit interviews report the new-hire admits to not being able to
keep up with their reading assignments. Sounds like school and it is. The reading
load in the Knowledge Economy is more than double what it was ten years ago
and it is because of the Internet. We have a suggestion.

Old skills just do not cut it anymore and cause the stress of Information-Overload. Our research with executives at Fortune 500 companies show over 90% of middle and upper management people read and learn with the skills they were taught in 3rd grade. We call it Snailing.

It is not a joke. When was the last time you learned and changed how you read a
page of text? Do you have any new memory strategies you have added to your
arsenal of daily cognitive skills?

Goals

Our experience over four decades in teaching speed reading permits us to
guarantee without ifs ands or maybes – students and executives equally can
3x their reading speed, and 2x their long-term memory. They can read-and-remember three books, articles and reports in the time their peers can hardly
finish even one. The guarantee is for life and the result is these folks will not fall
behind in their assignments.

Gist

Psychologists divide the brain into Consciousness and Subconsciousness. We
call subconsciousness the Non-Conscious mind, and locate it in the right-hemisphere.
The secret is not the name but the function. Our conscious mind reads text searching each and every word for meaning. The non-conscious right-brain on the other hand, investigates the page for the Essence, the Key-Ideas and the Gist. Both
lefty and righty work together, not separately.

The difference is the proportion of each. The average college graduate reads at
200 words per minute (snailing) and uses the language dominant left-brain 90% of the time. The Speed Reader has strategies that change the proportion to 60% for
the left brain and 40% for the right. The secret is pattern-recognition and spatial
skills permitting a practical 650 to 1,000 words per minute for the speed reader.

In The Flow

Have you heard the term in sports called being In-The-Flow or sometimes, In-The-
Zone? It is being in touch with your senses without conscious distraction in playing.
Speed reading requires a 1-2 minute preliminary exercise called StressBusting to
get you into the Flow and Zone.

The reason for StressBusting is our conscious mind is always running – gurus call
it the Monkey-Mind. We have worries, fears, distractions (noise), self-doubt, and
the little voice in our Mind’s Ear called Stream-of-Consciousness at least 16 hours
daily. It is amazing we get anything done with all the clutter.

Use the 1-2 minutes of StressBusting before important reading (reports, memos,
and articles) and you control two-hours of lucid brain time.

How

Our brain operates in Beta Brainwave Rhythms during waking hours (14-30 cycles
per second); it is the shelter for chronic stress. Shut your eyes and in five seconds you brain changes to Alpha Brainwaves, alert relaxation (8-13 cycles per second) and operates almost stress free.

Speed Reading requires Alpha.

Step 1: sit down, hands on top of your knees, eyes closed.

Step 2: become aware of your breathing.

Step 3: Create a mental picture in your minds eye of the following digits.

Start with a deep diaphragmatic breath and see, visualize and imagine the
numbers 3-3-3. Take another diaphragmatic breath and see, visualize and imagine the numbers 2-2-2. Lastly take another diaphragmatic breath and see, visualize and imagine the three-numbers 1-1-1. Now say to yourself, Now I am relaxed in Alpha consciousness.

Step 4: You are now going to going into a deeper dimension of mind by counting yourself down from 1-10, with a diaphragmatic breath separating each number. Each breath releases stress and increases relaxation. On reaching #10, say to yourself – I am feeling more relaxed than before, self-confident and ready to speed read. I am going to snap my fingers, open my eyes, feeling comfortable, and trusting in the unfolding, and ready to enjoy this learning session. Snap – eyes opened!

Two Contradictory Processes

Reading requires two cognitive processes for comprehension and long-term memory. They are easy and you have been doing both all your life but simultaneously instead of separately.

The first strategy is Gathering Data searching for the main ideas, the essence and gist in the text. It is a right-brain process of Semblance and Sensory Adaptation. Semblance is choosing the key points and separately copying them out of the whole. Sensory Adaptation is a brain strategy of working easily the second, third and fourth time you encounter something you previously learned.

The second strategy is the one you have been using all your life. It dominates your waking mind and mostly ignores your right-brain skills.

It is Thinking and Analysis and is the basis of our western economy. The problem is creativity and intuition require our right- brain skills which are often blocked-out by our left-brain.

An analogy why Gathering Data must not be used simultaneously with Thinking and Analysis is trying to memorize facts at the same time you are reading the text.

Principle: first understand the text, then insert facts into long-term memory. We cannot remember what we don’t understand.

That’s it. We know you can figure out this baby-easy stuff. More later.

See ya.

Got Attention-Strategies for Career Success?

What is it important – why should you care about how you pay Attention?

When you choose to cause yourself to zero-in on one idea and eliminate
the distractions around you, you are exercising your volition – will and mind.
The key element of thinking is paying Attention.

There are a dozen different ways to pay attention. You are going to learn two (2) of them. We care because learning and memory start with training your attention skills. Yes, the dozen are brain strategies and each has its own neural pathway.

Seeing

You have three ways to see: foveally (sharp but very narrow); macula (wider for reading); peripherally (widest). To triple your reading speed and double your memory we teach adults and kids how to adapt their peripheral (side) vision for
reading. It is not natural and certainly not taught in school but it offers you the
competitive-edge and a position in the fast-lane in school and your career.

Peripheral Vision

The weird part of peripheral vision (36 letters wide) is that it helps eliminate
Subvocalization (self-talk), which slows your reading to a snail while it deletes
chronic stress.

What a deal – you 3x your reading speed and 2x your memory,
destroy your wandering mind and its stream-of-consciousness, and wipe out
the stress of headaches and anxiety when you discover how to activate your
peripheral vision. It covers 180 degrees horizontally and 130 degrees vertically.

Profound Statement: peripheral vision is not just lateral-left and lateral-right
(sides) 180 degrees, but above and below your direct point of focus up to 130 degrees.

Yes, it matters because with each eye-fixation-pause using your peripheral vision – you read groups-of-words (up to an entire sentence) instead of just one-word, standard for your peers. It absolutely gives you the competitive-edge for

Peripheral vision consists of the Rods (photoreceptors) transferring to your brain
for imaging (seeing) and assembled by your Optic Nerve. The macula (snailing-reading) not speed reading uses its own photoreceptors – Cones. Rods create right-brain neural pathways (pattern recognition), while Cones create left-brain neural pathways of data (facts) assembling and analysis. Creativity and imagination including intuition are creatures of our right-brain and their use of our retinal Rods.

Sensory Skills produce Mental Abilities

This is going to be easy – our three major senses are Seeing (S), Hearing (H) and
Touching (T). Run them together with our strategies and you become a genius because your peers only use one of them at a time for information-processing.

Get this: two major Attention-States are External (outside of you) and Internal (Inside of you). Easy, right? Our two major focal systems are Narrow and Wide.
The secret is: homo sapiens use Narrow (N) focusing 98% of the time and it causes
Chronic Stress.

Narrow Focusing

When you read a paper-book, surf the net on your computer, watch TV, play video-
games, and see a theatrical movie – you use Narrow (stress causing) focusing.
When you speak and listen to others you look them in the eye and use a Narrow Focus.

Prolonged use of your computer causes Dry-Eye, squinting, headaches and mental chronic stress. Think of your average day and the 16 hours of Beta (cycles per second) brainwave rhythm. They are 98% in Narrow Focus.

Wide Focusing

Consciously switching your focus to a Wide seeing for just two-minutes a day changes how you think, feel and behave in your relationships, learning and the
function of your long-term memory. It improves your life in school by helping to raise your grades and test scores up to 48%, and add to your personal productivity
at work by up to 38%.

Add to this, Wide Seeing links to your Parasympathetic Nervous System (acetylcholine) and moves your brain from Beta to Alpha cycles per second brainwave rhythm. You act better because you are relaxed and motivated.

In Alpha you learn faster and put information into long-term memory.
Know what? You improve the physical performance of your immune systems, organs, glands and neuropeptides. You improve your mental skills through a firewall, and your body by relaxing and helping your heart, pulmonary system and blood circulation.

Exercise #1

S-I-W stands for Seeing-Internal-Wide. Please sit down, hands on your knees, relax,
and close your eyes. Take a deep (diaphragmatic) breath and as you slowly exhale
create an image on the movie screen of your mind.

Mentally picture the ocean at the beach. See this scene through your Inner-Eye and feel the beauty of the sunshine overhead, the roar of the ocean and the fun of being with people your enjoy.

You job is to make this image as Wide as the horizon. See through the Edges of your
eyes (lateral left and lateral right); engage your 180 degree horizontal vision.
Simulaneously see above-and-below (130 degrees vertically) as well as side-to-side.

Now open your eyes and take a deep breath and as you slowly exhale, see this
Beach Scene again as widely as possible. Feel the sun and wide, smile at being with
your family and friends. Focus your mental imagery extreme-left and extreme-right,
above (sky) and below (sand).

Do it a second-time. Deep breath, exhale and see and feel your relaxing Beach Scene as widely as possible.

Do it a third-time. The entire exercise takes only two-minutes and improves your mind and body for a minimum of four-hours.

Exercise #2

S-E-W stands for Seeing-External-Wide.

Close your eyes, get comfortable, take a deep breath and slowly exhale. See in your minds-eye the office or classroom you are sitting in now.
See it from ceiling to floor, from side to side, and everything within it.

Wait – here is the secret of success: without moving your eyes or focal-point. Yes, with your eyes closed. Now open your eyes and take a deep breath and slowly exhale; maintain a steady stare ahead and keep your eyes fixed in front. See Wide
(horizontally and vertically) without moving your eyes or focus.

Do it a second-time. Deep-breath, feel the scene externally (on your skin), and see widely, without any eye-movements. You see through the Edges (corners) of your eyes, not centering – while going-wide.

Do it a third-time exactly the same way – breath – and see above and below, and side-to-side. This exercise require two-minutes and can lead to massive positive reactions to your information processing and sensory skills.

Endwords

Two-minutes daily of either of these two exercises will improve your mental-skills
for learning and memory up to 38-48%. Go for it and discover your latent talents and gifts.

Got Attention?

Ever hear of a wild concert called Woodstock, Three Days of Peace and Music?
The very last performer was Jimi Hendrix doing a two-hour set starting with
Message to Love and ending with Hey Joe. It happened on Monday, 9am on
August 18th, 1969 – 37 years ago.

Hendrix told an 8th grade infinitesimal joke that still resonates with his fans born with weak prefrontal cortices.

“Folks, my family was so poor when I was a kid, if the teacher

said Pay Attention – my family told me to answer we just could not

afford it.

He followed up with his philosophy: I hate to be in one corner. I hate to be just and
only a guitar player or either only as a song writer or only as a tap dancer. I like to
move around.

A Bit of Effort

At Northwestern University a recent EEG experiment measured brainwave cycles comparing attention to distraction. When you decide to produce personal focus the result is a major measurable change in the function of your three-pound Jello-like coconut. It was never proven before.

Imagine – the simple act of attention produces an altered state-of-consciousness. Some call it a high; this research proves attention changes your brain cycles-per-second (brainwave rhythms).

Wait – this is easy so Pay Attention. Your act of Attention creates neurons that are in-sync.
The human guinea pigs (patients) were told to play attention to one stimulus and ignore the other. Choosing is a volitional act of Attention.

Can you resist distractions? Our own research finds that even the slightest
distraction (music, noise or conversation) reduces comprehension and memory up to 48%. Attention rules so shut off the music, stick in earplugs and almost double your learning skills.

The act of focusing on one specific stimulus (idea, picture, sound) is a small change that produces a massive reaction. What happens is synchronization, a coherence (sticking together) of neurons into a network. All it takes is the act of awareness and an extra bit of effort to concentrate to create Attention.

Hebbian Theory

“Psychology is basically a biological science.” Professor Donald O. Hebb.
The key to his original thinking was put in simple English by his students.

The brain cells (neurons) that fire together – wire together.

He was interested in the EEG (Electroencephalogram) because Hans Berger
who first recorded human brainwave rhythms in 1924, proved that even without
external stimuli the brain is constantly producing electrical activity.

Professor Donald O. Hebb of McGill University understood the meaning of neural networks before his peers.
Like bees in a hive, when neurons team up into networks the brain structure and
its function changes into specialized (structures) systems.

He died in 1985 and is considered the father of neuroscience. We care about Hebb and Attention because the function of neurons as neural networks contributes to important psychological processes such as learning and memory. Hebb was first to conclude our brain is based on electrochemical reactions creating cognition and consciousness.

Brain Gyms

The day after Christmas 2006 the New York Times did an editorial piece on the importance of exercising your whiskey soaked, addle patted coconut.

A study of 2,800 mature (age 65 and rising) took ten sessions of cognitive (brain) training. It was divided into memory improvement, reasoning (patterns) in word
series, and a form of subliminal perception (speed visualizing).

The results were certified and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Get this – a quickie learning improvement through simple brain exercises can reduce the natural tendency of mind deterioration in old age.

Five years after the original training the 2,800 were tested and compared to
senior citizens who had had no cognitive training. Results: a mental slide in
memory and learning abilities by those who had no specialized training, and
significant retention of memory, reasoning and identification by those who
received the brain training.

The Times concludes brain exercises may well help in permitting our elderly
to live independently. Remember – almost 40% of our senior population is on the
way to living active lives into their 80s and even 90s. Will cognitive training in
basic learning skills lead to a doubling of our productive years and the enjoyment
of life up to 100?

RasterMaster

Principle: the use of a pacer while reading focuses attention like nothing else.
In the five thousand years of using symbols to communicate ideas homo sapiens
have read randomly without a mechanical aid for attention, comprehension
and memory.

There are three simple pacers that will improve learning skills significantly.
In 12 hours of training using a RasterMaster, a handheld laser tool, a pen
or the cursor of your computer mouse, the average student triples their
reading speed and doubles their memory.

Is this the kind of Brain Gym the Times recommends for the elderly to improve
their quality of life?

In 1959 Evelyn Wood created the principles of speed reading,
graduating 2 million including the White House staffs of four U.S. Presidents.
Partnering with her led to our use of the RasterMaster and the cursor to underline
the sentences of text while reading. It creates attention neural networks that last
a lifetime.

Our eyes instinctually follow a moving object. Some call it peripheral vision while
scientists refer to it as Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (VOR). It boils down to being a bit of a Cyborg, combing our human cognitive skills with tools for focusing attention and comprehension. The result is releasing the dormant gifts and talents of your brain
for learning.

Would it improve your life as a student and your career to read-and-remember
three books, articles and reports in the time your untrained peer can hardly finish
even one?

Endwords

Our research has resulted in Brain Gyms for kids, adults and senior citizens. In
12 hours of training you can create a firewall around your mind, the one you will
be using for up to one-hundred years. Will this firewall protect you from Alzheimers, Parkinsons or schizophrenia? Some believe it. We suggest it cannot hurt and will add years of productive living. No mean trick in itself.

Brainwave Entrainment How to Improve Meditation With Technology

Google “Meditation” and you’ll get literally over 24 million hits. Many people wanting to learn meditation give up quickly. There is too much to choose from. Most of us don’t have the time or energy to spend years learning meditation techniques. By the use of technology you don’t have to learn any meditation technique. You still get all the benefits of meditation, but much faster.

Even if we focus on technological solutions to meditation in our Google search (usually sound technology), we still find a jungle of different companies selling all types of CD’s, MP3’s and devices for meditation, all claiming to be the best.

You find hyper expensive meditation programs, CD’s with whale and dolphin sounds, chanting Indians, Mongolian overtone-singing and who knows what else. I’ve been through this jungle and would like to help you in your search by narrowing it down from hundreds to a handful of alternatives that really do work.

Brainwave entrainment and how it works

Brainwave entrainment technology will help you get the effects of meditation very fast. To understand what brainwave entrainment is you first you need to know roughly how brainwaves work.

Basically there are 5 groups of brainwave patterns listed by their brainwave frequency range:
Gamma 28Hz+
Beta 13-28Hz
Alpha 7-13Hz
Theta 4-7Hz
Delta 0.5-4Hz

All brainwaves are present any given moment. Though some are more dominant depending on what you are doing. Delta waves are dominant while sleeping. Beta, when we are active. High amounts of Beta is present when we are stressed or anxious and in rare cases of really extreme stress or extreme focus, Gamma will be dominant. When you are daydreaming, or relaxing with eyes closed, alpha brainwaves increases. If you go even deeper, without falling asleep, Theta will be dominating.

How to stimulate brainwaves.

Let us say you want to relax in to an Alpha state and decide to stimulate the 10Hz frequency. Do not confuse the Hz used to describe the pitch of a note with brainwave frequencies. Hz (Hertz) is used to tell pulses per second. A 10Hz tone can not even be heard since the human ear only picks up from about 20Hz to 20Khz (20.000 hz).

What you do is to use headphones and play one steady tone is the left ear at lets say 400Hz, and in the right ear a tone at 410Hz. What will happen now is that these two tones together create one pulsing tone and it will sound like it comes from the middle of your head, just between your ears. The pulse will be 10Hz because this is the difference between the tones. (410Hz – 400Hz = 10Hz). It is being created by the brain and it will begin to stimulate this frequency in your brain. Soon you will begin feeling more relaxed and if someone did a EEG test on you after 10 minutes you would see that you have more amplitude in Alpha frequencies around 10Hz.

Different types of brainwave entrainment technology

Although there are more than one type of brainwave entrainment, they all basically work the same way. The most used types are:
Binaural beats
Monaural beats
Isochronic beats
Hemisync (Hemispheric synchronization, developed by the Monroe institute).

You can get these sounds on CD, or MP3 files that you can purchase or download for free on some sites. BUT, even if free stuff is nice, there is a reason that some are free and some aren’t. Usually the ones you pay for has a lot more work put into them and works a lot better.

Audio-visual brainwave entrainment

This is also known as AVS. If you synchronize the sound pulses with light pulses – usually in the form of strobe light goggles with LED lights – the effect is improved a lot. These devices are known as “mind machines” and there are several to choose from. They are much more expensive than CD’s but in one machine you can get hundreds or different sessions to choose from. Usually they come with some type of software that will let you load or create your own new sessions to your AVS device.

The first AVS devices came with red LED lights. Now they come with multi-color LED’s that are able to reproduce any color you can think of. The effects of multi-colored lights are not really clear although the companies selling them claim more colors are better. The most important thing though is the synchronization of the light and sound. There’s no real scientific proof that I’ve seen about any improved effect by the use of multi-colored lights. They are nice to experience though!

For the adventurous – TMS technology (Transcranical Magnetic Stimulation.)

This is a non invasive method to excite neurons in the brain, using rapidly changing magnetic fields to trigger brain activity in certain parts of the brain. I’m a pretty adventurous person when it comes to trying technology for altered states etc, and one of the coolest things this far is the “8-coil shakti”. This device is developed by Mr. Todd Murphy. He is a Behavioral Neuroscientist associated with Dr Michael Persinger. This is powerful stuff and something you should really study first if you plan to use it. Eight coils are placed on the head in two pairs of four. Four on each side of your head. These coils are connected via audio cable to your computer. The 8-coil Shakti software then plays specific signals, getting the coils to magnetically stimulate a pre-chosen area of your brain. This may trigger spiritual experiences. Again: Anyone wanting to use this device should study the manual first, carefully.

You choose

I’ve tried all of the technologies mentioned in this article and many more. These are the ones that work according to me. Enjoy the fruits of meditation, without having to learn how to grow the tree.

Good luck!

Gone are the days where you would have no power at all over the mind, and if you wanted to change something, you would need to be hooked up to huge magnetic induction dream machines, where men in white coats would take readings and then push little buttons to read graphs that go up and down in green and black motifs. No, now you too can have the power to reset the mind and make it like you never had problems in the first place. Mind control programming is something of a reality now to the consumer world and you should wake up and take notice of this.

One of the ways you can reprogramme the mind is through the use of brainwave entrainment. Let us now look at the common problems that plague the mind. One of them is addiction, and this is perhaps the most virulent problem of all because of the fact that it can affect almost anyone in the world. In the arena of addiction, we have things like drugs, over eating, smoking, etc. – the list is expansive and all that is mention is the top three things that you might be familiar with. People can be addicted to killing animals, and this is all because of the subconscious.

Then there is the question of phobias and fears, which have been placed there either by events of extreme stress or associations when we were growing up and our inner mind was still learning. The last thing is emotional scarring and injuries, which can be a result of trauma as well, and the most frightening of these problems is clinical depression. Now, when we are talking about these three main areas, you need to know that the main cause or the main culprit of this problem is that the subconscious mind makes dangerous associations that actually hook onto to these elements and makes them a part of the psychological and physiological functions of the body.

For one thing when we smoke, we ingest nicotine and feel good about ourselves. If we are afraid of water or had an accident in the water, we feel fear. When we are depressed, we replay the events in the mind which form part of the degenerative process. These are the things that you need to think about. As you can see, the common denominator is the simple fact that the subconscious makes these associations. Nicotine – good. Water – fear. Emotional trauma – memories – depression.

These keep being cycled over and over in the mind, and because the subconscious has control over all aspects of the brain, all of its lobes, it controls our emotions, our bodily functions and our intangibles. This is why we need to reprogramme the mind and with brainwave entrainment and other available technologies, you can do this as well. You can reach deep into the subconscious mind and with entrainment technology, reset the sub conscious mind and place in your own positive messages of your own; ridding you of your addictions and phobias.

Golfers, hypnosis is a mental training technique that can benefit everyone. The challenge is most golfers still have misconceptions about what hypnosis really is. Here are 10 facts about hypnosis to shed a little light of truth on the subject.

Hypnosis is not what you see in the movies. The Hollywood portrayal of hypnosis is false.

Hypnosis is a “Do-With” process not a “Do-To” one. This means that you never give up control, but instead work with someone to achieve a common goal.

Hypnosis is self-improvement. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis. A hypnotist doesn’t do anything to their clients, they serve as a guide in a self-improvement process.

Hypnosis is proven effective through research using modern medical and scientific devices including MRIs, EEGs, and more.

Hypnosis is not a state of mind, it is a communication process. According to EEG research, the brainwaves experienced while in meditation, and hypnosis are identical. The difference is hypnosis uses this natural state to communicate positive new messages to the mind while it is in a relaxed and receptive state. Meditation is used to quiet the mind. Same brainwaves just different uses.

Hypnosis makes use of naturally occurring brainwaves that everyone experiences each day. Science has determined that the human brain oscillates between 4 brainwaves every day of your life. These brainwaves are Beta (full alertness), Alpha (relaxed awareness), Theta (deep relaxation, dream state), and Delta (unconscious deep sleep).

Hypnosis makes use of alpha and theta brainwaves. These are the learning states when the mind is relaxed and simply absorbing information without conscious effort. Alpha and theta are the dominate brainwaves children experience. While in these learning states all day long, children are able to soak up massive amounts of information and achieve amazing feats in learning such as language development. This relaxed state of mind makes it easier for new information to be accepted and acted upon because it is not going through the analytical filters that are in place when adults are fully alert or in beta brainwaves.

Hypnosis accelerates learning because it guides people back to the same learning states everyone experienced as a child in order to make use of this natural resource within all of us. When you learn how to relax your mind, you become more suggestible and increase your ability to learn useful information that can benefit you. When you are more suggestible it makes it easier to absorb, accept, and act upon the new positive thoughts and behaviors.

Hypnosis is mental fitness for your mind and not a quick fix. While it can create immediate and noticeable improvements after just one session, it is more advantageous to think of this as daily activity. You can’t expect to go to a gym one time and have the ideal body or consider yourself physical fit. The same rule applies to your mind. The mind is like any other muscle. It needs exercised to get stronger, change old negative thought processes, and be trained to keep you moving towards your goals with a positive mental attitude.

Hypnosis can help everybody. If you have the ability to listen, follow instructions, and enjoy relaxation then you can be hypnotized and benefit from hypnosis.
