I’ve come to understand the amazing benefits of meditation.

I’ve seen TV news specials about schools that have incorporated meditation into their curriculum, causing student’s grades and test scores to sky-rocket. I’ve also read about major corporations that believe in meditation. They feel it’s so important for good performance that they hire meditation consultants to teach their workers and even pay employees for time just to meditate.

I’ve asked my mentors what has really helped them move to the level of success they enjoy today. And you guessed it, meditation was their answer. Phil Helmuth, one of the world’s best poker players even attributes his success to the practice of meditation!

Because I know its value, I want to be able to practice meditation successfully too. I have tried for years, but to this day I am still NOT able to meditate.

I spent some time trying to troubleshoot my meditation problem. Does it go back to my formative years? Did I spend too much time playing video games as a kid?

I’m not sure of the cause, but the reality is that my mind is just too active to meditate. You see, my brain works like CNN. I have one reporter delivering the news and an additional ticker tape of information flowing across the bottom of the screen.

But despite my meditation failures, I am very fortunate to have been able to achieve incredible results in my life using an alternate technique.

This technique was actually a tremendous gift that I received from a close friend of mine. This is a friend who also had limited success meditating. He introduced me to an effective technology called brain wave entrainment.

Brain wave entrainment allows one to manipulate the brain state with very little practice and a rapid learning curve. It’s generally accomplished with audio soundtracks. The audio has been modified to manipulate the brain into the desired state. So if you can listen to audio, you can change your state of mind. And if you are hearing impaired this effect can also be created with specially designed strobe effects.

So why am I telling you about changing the brain state in an article on meditation? Because whether you realize it or not, the holy grail of meditation is the theta brain wave state!

When you are barely conscious (just before sleep or right after waking, for example) your brain waves are in the theta state. This is the middle ground between the conscious and the subconscious world, and also the goal of meditation.

When you get into the theta state, but can remain conscious, you have the ability to access and influence your subconscious mind. This is extremely important because the subconscious mind is much more powerful than the conscious mind.

So, getting yourself into the theta brain wave state on a regular basis in order to influence your subconscious mind is the secret to manifesting change and positive results in your life.

In fact, before we were able to measure brainwave patterns in the human brain with machines, people were using entrainment to induce a theta state. The chanting of monks, the drumbeats of Native Americans, and the hypnotic state created by a campfire are all examples of brain wave entrainment.

I’ve been working full time online for a few years now. Recently I discovered just how much I’ve learned. I submitted a proposal to write a Press Release and some articles to promote an upcoming documentary on the Discovery Channel. As it turned out, they needed more research than writing. Since half my job is research, I felt comfortable accepting that part of the job as well. Since I’ve worked for a major SEO company and am always reviewing SEO services and software, I also mentioned that I could help them with that part of the job.

Generally speaking, this type of work is outsourced to India or the Philippines, but the client had tried that and discovered that their Indian SEO firm, while competent enough in some respects, was unable to pinpoint their niche. It is a large enough niche, but also a very tribal one. If the content provided was not written in their jargon, it would backfire on them and if they paid to have it posted in bulk to all the article directories, it would just be a waste of money.

I just finished up the job yesterday afternoon and am as “happy as Larry,” whoever he is. Within 6 hours, my PRs and videos had already been read and viewed hundreds of times and I knew that every single one of those readers and viewers now knew where and when they could view the documentary and where they could go to purchase DVDs from the company. Furthermore, I knew that they would be passionately interested in buying those DVDs. In other words, I had successfully targeted my client’s market.

Meanwhile, in my efforts to get more traffic to my own website, I have learned some harsh truths in the past few weeks. I love my little online bookshop and want people to come and visit. I’ve taken steps to increase traffic and have had some success. However, although over 300 people have clicked through to the brainwave entrainment software affiliate link I have, I am yet to make a single commission. I get almost no traffic to my bookshop and am yet to make a sale there, either.

While I say these are “harsh truths,” it is exactly what I suspected would happen. I have too many interests and instead of focusing on one niche, I write about a number of things. This article, for instance, is about internet marketing. While I do have some excellent affiliate links for the best affiliate program internet marketing tools on the market, I have not established myself as an authority on the subject and have not focused on writing content about it. Therefore, only pure chance would lead to somebody actually clicking through to one of my affiliate programs, much less subscribing to it.

I don’t want to spend the rest of my life writing content promoting other people’s products and services, so I know the day is coming when I will have to find a market niche that I can fill in my own unique way. In the meantime, here are a few quick tips for those of you who are trying to get online exposure and/or sell your products or services online:

1) If you outsource your article writing, you will get what you pay for. Cheap articles are cheap in every sense of the word. If it’s bulk writing you are looking for, you are far better off employing a good writer who can write good article sets for mixing for you.

2) If you are looking for SEO, employ a service that understands your market and can target it for you. Everybody knows about keyword optimization and automated submission services. If you only play the game that way, you will be playing against competition that has a much bigger SEO budget than yours.

3) If you are desperate for money, don’t look to internet marketing as your savior. You’ll just end up getting suckered by “gurus” who tell you they can show you how to make a five figure monthly income.

I think it was Abraham Lincoln who said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” I know for a fact that most of those guys who try to hustle “turnkey profit making systems” are not who they say they are. Stay away from them and stay away from affiliate programs that even smell like pyramid schemes. Find your niche. Make it something you’re passionate about. Only hire help when you can afford it and when you do, don’t grab the lowest bid – take the best bid for the money.

I’ve been practicing meditation for over 10 years now, the keyword there being practice. I’m certainly no Guru or Buddhist monk that has sat in quite contemplation for those 10 years. I’m just your average guy seeking some spiritual connection.

So, here’s the short version of my experience in tapping into the Divine.

The first time I “attempted” to meditate was with a group of my peers and it was a 5 minute quiet meditation. I thought my head was going to catch on fire or maybe even explode! Five minutes might as well have been 5 hours. The “committee” inside my head would not shut up. My brain shouted “You will never be able to meditate!”

I ran out and bought several books on meditation and some guided meditation CD’s. My first great success was with one of these simple guided meditations. WOW! I actually “left my body” and connected to my higher power, it was so…well, POWERFUL.

I continued to experiment with various forms of meditation and sought out as many teachers as I could find. There were so many I can’t cover them all here, but I’ll tell you more in future articles. After some years I found several methods that worked well for me. Here are a few of them.

Wayne Dyer has a fantastic CD called “Meditations for Manifesting” that contains the OM and the AH meditation chants. I used to think chanting was sort of freaky and foreign until I tried it, it’s actually awesome! My personal favorite is the AH meditation. Dr. Dyer explains that AH is the sound of God, and goes on the explain how to do this meditation and offers some affirmative statements to contemplate while chanting. After 20 minutes of chanting AHHHHHH, my whole body vibrates and I feel incredible. I can’t tell you how amazing this is, I highly recommend it!

The short feeling meditations I do are based on the teachings of Abraham as channeled through Esther Hicks. I had some pre-conceived notions about this kind of far out spiritual stuff (channeling, non-physical entities, etc), but I found that prejudice and spirituality don’t mix. Remember, your mind is like a parachute, it works best when open. So anyway, you simply sit and concentrate on how you would feel if you had certain things that you want such as more money, the perfect relationship or a great job. Quick, easy and effective.

Here are 5 keys to remember about meditation.

1. Anyone can meditate – If I can do it, you can do it.
2. There’s really no wrong way – Whatever works for you is the right way.
3. It takes practice – Schedule some time everyday, just do it, but don’t judge the quality of your experience. It really is “all good”.
4. You don’t have to sit for hours – 3 to 5 minutes can be enough to make huge changes in your life and health.
5. Meditation will make your life better – You can improve your physical, mental and spiritual well being with one simple activity.

I’ve always done my best praying, praying that feels powerful and received, while meditating using brainwave entrainment.

It seems like the most natural thing to do.

Prayer is a communication to God through words or thoughts, and what a perfect place for that to happen when you’re at the threshold of the collective consciousness, your subconscious.

The goal of prayer meditation is simple awareness, a connection, if you will, to your inner source, a communication to let go of things and trust. You have to be quiet to listen, so God can talk to you. Meditation is listening. Meditation is a must for prayer.

Many people pray asking for help, for guidance, or for healing, for themselves or others. What they don’t always do, is listen for God’s answer or guidance.

Brainwave entrainment refers to the brainwave response to repetitive sensory stimulation, like sound and/or visual pulses. When the brain is induced with a consistent, rhythmic stimulus, it will entrain by mimicking the stimulus. How To Power Pray Using Brainwave Entrainment

Before you get started, drink a glass of water. Entrainment, no matter for what purpose, increases your metabolism and you want your body to be at prime so it doesn’t distract your state of consciousness.
Choose a good meditation entrainment recording.
Sit comfortably on the front part of a chair, feet flat on the floor, in a quiet place, if possible.
Keep your spine straight, your head balanced–you’ll find your head wants to drop forward during meditation, don’t let it.
Breath naturally, don’t control it. You will notice, as you get deeper into meditation, that your breaths come further and further apart and may even cease at one point. Don’t worry about this. It’s all good. You are getting close at this point to start your prayer.
Keep focusing on your breathing or for deeper entrainment, focus on the beats or pulses.
Start praying or visualizing while in this altered state….if it feels right, do it.
Visualize a white light. As you inhale, imagine this light filling your body. As you exhale, envision all negative energy leaving you.
Or, visualize that “special place”. Mine is a grassy knoll around a waterfall.
Pray, communicate with the Divine, your higher self. You can use words but back it up with feelings and images. When in this state, you are at the gateway to the collective consciousness and communication here is done with images.
Witness yourself praying to God. Witness silently. Detach yourself.
Keep coming back to your breathing or the beats or tones. Keep focused, don’t let your mind veer off from your intended goal.
Allow your thoughts and feelings to come and go without attachment. They will eventually take you where you need to go. Go with the flow.
You will be very relaxed at this point and will feel very good. You are aware of your consciousness, not of your body.
When you have finished the recording, take a minute to return to normal awareness. Enjoy the warm, pleasant feeling of having just been in another dimension.
Don’t get up to quickly or open your eyes yet. Give yourself a few more minutes before you come back to the glaring physical world.
When you’re back, drink a glass of water to get rid of any loose negative energy.
You may be a little spacy, clumsy even… the rest of you will come back soon enough.

When Is The Best Time To Power Pray?

The best time, most constructive time to pray using brainwave entrainment and meditation, is before you eat, maybe in the morning before breakfast and in the evening, before dinner. Your digestive system will shut down during meditation and give you indigestion.

You might notice that you….

fall asleep. That’s o.k. You’ve just gone to a deeper level and are still communicating with your higher self or God. You’re just not consciously aware. With practice, you’ll be able to stay awake and still go deeply into a meditative state. It may take a few times. Have one of your intentions be that you stay awake.

cry. You might feel an overwhelming feeling of emotion coming from your heart area. That’s good. Let the energy flow out. You know you’re really connecting when this happens. It’s a gift of release from the collective consciousness.

receive flashes, images, feelings that seem to come from someone or somewhere else….because they are. This is your communication back. Pay attention to what you feel. There’ll be some answers in there.
