Classify your emotions and train yourself to recognize them. There are “good” feelings and “bad” feelings right? Do you know what they are? Of course you do! Then why do so many people spend so much of their time dwelling on things that make them feel bad? Does this help the good feelings return? Many individuals seemingly go out of their way to feel bad through their consistent negative thoughts and actions, yet they wonder why so many bad things happen to them! Good or bad, whatever emotion producing thoughts you saturate your mind with, and thus send out to the universe, you will get more of back in return. This applies to how you “feel” towards other people, yourself, your circumstances, and everything in between. Identify the undesired emotions corresponding to negative events in your life. Just by becoming consciously AWARE of the impact your feelings have, will go a long way in raising your emotional intelligence.
You can choose your thoughts and thereby control your emotions. We all have experienced this, but here’s the key you’ve been missing; you asked for it!
By focusing on what made you feel bad, you requested more of the emotion you put forth! And so you were given that which you commanded, more reasons to feel bad! Almost all negative events can be traced to the same negative feelings having been felt BEFORE they happened! Just as excitement and joy are felt before we do something that will make us feel that way. What you need to remember and carry with you always is that your perspective and focus determines HOW you feel about any given thing. And this feeling “mind-set” controls more than just your mood, it creates your future!
Do not take your mind for granted. Your thoughts are tools and your emotions powerful weapons which you can use to help yourself, or hurt yourself. Emotional intelligence means never allowing another person, thing, or event the luxury of control over your life. It means accepting responsibility for past mistakes and forgiving yourself for them, as well as those who have hurt you. It means remaining steadfast in your self-belief and choosing how you feel about yourself regardless of what someone else is trying to make you believe. By choosing to think only of things which make you feel good, you attract more good into your life! This applies to every desired emotion as well as those we don’t want. Envy will bring more reasons to feel envious. Frustration will bring frustrating circumstances. Joy will bring reasons to celebrate! And gratitude will fill your life up with happiness and abundance!
You can find reasons to rejoice or despair at any given time, both opportunities are always present, what you focus on is what comes to life. Your emotional intelligence is equal to the depth of your inner gratitude. That which you feel grateful for will be multiplied in your life. There is no simpler way to say it or easier way to turn your life around. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and complaining about what makes you feel bad! Do not expect to be “saved” by another person or higher power simply because you are good at making yourself feel miserable. This behavior is akin to a child thinking if they throw a dramatic enough fit then someone will fix their problem for them.
When all the while they have the power to do just that! You too have access to the most powerful, limitless, creative resource of universal energy in existence. This energy operates within the law of attraction and is directed by the thoughts and feelings you give as commands to it. See within your life right now the multitude of reasons you have to be grateful and FEEL them with all your heart! Just this exercise, and nothing more, is enough to change your life for the better!
Action is always better than reaction. Stop reacting to life. Try pausing before every new emotion, or mood, and check it to see if it is a positive or negative feeling first. If it is a negative feeling, choose to change your thought focus back onto a positive aspect of something you love most. If you can’t find a positive spin for the moment, simply find a reason to feel grateful, and another, and another still, until your gratitude outweighs the passing negative situation. This is an example of emotional intelligence at work. Pro-actively choosing the direction of ones energy, and as a consequence, the course of their life. As your mental maturity increases, so too will the possibilities of your potential outshine the limiting circumstances surrounding you. This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.
On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.
While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.
We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.
If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.
