Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

You are feeling down and lonely, so you get up at night and raid the fridge.
You don’t grab celery and carrot sticks. Are you kidding? Most likely, you’ll dive into the chocolate cake or the family sized container of rocky road ice cream or maybe you’ll finish off the cheesecake.
There’s a reason you’re not eating the veggies, and you may not even be aware of it.
High carbohydrate foods encourage the brain to release serotonin, a hormone that makes you feel good. When there is a low level of serotonin in the body, most likely due to high stress and depression (chicken and the egg), the body will crave carbohydrates, hence, that chocolate cake looks pretty darn good to you.
And then in the morning, you’ll skip breakfast, maybe even lunch, but then watch out around 3:30 p.m. To heck with foods that are good for you like vegetables and proteins. You want an endless supply of chips, candy bars, pasta, potatoes, bread, cake, cookies, and so on– anything that gives you that “high” and helps make life not feel so hard, for a moment.
And those foods actually do make you feel better…for a while, until you crash. Unfortunately, your sugar levels drop like a rock in the ocean, about twenty minutes after you eaten them, and your serotonin levels sink right along with them. Now you feel guilty, ashamed, bloated, and really low, and you’re gaining weight like a bear preparing for winter. So you’ll eat something else high carb to feel better, perpetuating a vicious cycle.
You’ve just been played by a bunch of bio-chemicals in your brain. If your brain isn’t releasing enough serotonin, you are going to have some vicious cravings, and it has nothing to do with “being weak” or undisciplined.
You’re just doing what the brain is instructing you to do…elevating your serotonin.
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter manufactured in the body that uses tryptophan to help maintain a “happy feeling” and keep your moods under control. It helps you sleep, reduces anxiety, regulates appetite, and relieves depression.
High fat, high sugar foods do elevate your serotonin levels, but they just can’t sustain them for very long and drop you down to dangerous low levels that mess with your body’s ability to process carbohydrates. A high consumption of carbohydrates will leave your body with more energy that it can burn and this added energy will turn into fat…especially around the abdomen.
It stands to reason then, if you increase serotonin levels by accessing the brainwave frequency that instructs the brain to release it, the alpha brainwave frequency, your cravings and storing of extra fat, will diminish and weight loss will occur.
If you lose the urge to scarf down the rest of your kid’s birthday cake at two in the morning, you’re going to lose weight.
Not having the craving in the first place makes it easy to by-pass foods that are adding to your girth, which in turn, makes it easy to lose that extra weight.
Brainwave entrainment is a clinically proven technological tool that changes brainwave patterns with the induction of specifically designed sound pulses. The brain, when introduced to this stimulus, will mimic the pattern, and change its state of consciousness.
Listening to brainwave entrainment recordings for weight loss can trigger the release of serotonin in a natural, safe, and fast way.
Altering your brainwave frequency this way, will start the entraining of your brain in as little as six minutes after you start listening.
It’s all there, the research…you can lose weight if you elevate your serotonin levels.
Half the battle with losing weight is the cravings.
If the cravings are gone…then it’s a whole lot easier to lose weight.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.
This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.
On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.
Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.
THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.
While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.
We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.
If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.
