Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

The self improvement and personal development industry is growing in strength (and profits) with every year. Why is this? Well to answer that question I will likened it to the diet industry which also grows in similar ways with each passing year.
The diet industry is growing in strength, customers and profits every year just like the personal development industry. Now call me cynical but if the services and products offered by the diet industry worked then their customers should be getting fewer not larger (in both stomach mass and numbers).
The weight-loss industry is raking in vast amounts of money and new customers on a daily basis because they do not deliver what they say they will. If diets, potions and weight-loss pills worked like they were suppose to the weight-loss industry would shrivel and die through lack of customers!
The same rules can be applied to self improvement! If the industry delivered on its promises anyone who used a self improvement product to better their lives would never need to find another one!
The Holosync Solution
It’s hard to investigate self improvement without stumbling upon some hype about Holosync.
Holosync has been created as a means to enter profoundly deep states of meditation without the traditional effort and time required to acquire the skill. Holosync is the work of Bill Harris who made the first recordings back in the 1980s. Since then he has improved upon the prototype and updated the meditation program.
Holosync consists of a set of audio programs that use binaural beats. These binaural beats are embedded into the Holosync recordings in such a way that they induce changes in the brainwaves of the listener. Although this sounds a little frightening to some people your brainwaves actually change state throughout the day naturally. There are benefits to sustaining certain brainwave frequencies beyond there normal time-frames though. However, the skill needed to do this is only gleaned from a great many years of practise.
Benefits of Holosync
To fully appreciate the power that Holosync offers it is necessary to quickly outline the different brainwave frequencies and their associated mental and physical states.
Your brainwaves are usually in the Beta frequency range when you are in normal waking consciousness. When you daydream, read a book, watch an enthralling movie or TV program or get totally engrossed in a task your brainwaves are usually in the Alpha range. Sleep creates Delta and Theta brainwaves which are in the lower ranges of consciousness when you are not conscious of much at all.
The beauty of being able to create these frequency ranges at will, with Holosync, means that you can induce sleep, promote energized wakefulness or even increased mental focus. As well as being able to control your mental and bodily states in this way Holosync (and meditation) enables you to also release past negative emotionally programming. This is the one thing that sets Holosync apart from other binaural beats recordings and self improvement methods!
By removing negative mental patterns, beliefs and emotions Holosync gives you the ability to change how you view the world and your automatic responses to it.
Holosync for Goal-Attainment
Holosync can be used on its own for dramatic and life-changing improvements. But it really comes into its own when it is combined with any other personal development tool. It can be used to not only increase the effectiveness of other approaches but also eliminate the negative beliefs that stand in the way of success with them.
For the first time it seems the self improvement industry is actually delivering on its promises and has given us a product that works! Using Holosync on its own is a way to gain all the benefits of extremely deep states of meditation (something I will not go into here) but being able to use it as a catalyst for other self improvement programs makes it indispensable in my view.
Imagine being able to enter deep states of Alpha while listening to a hypnosis recording or reciting affirmations, creating visualizations or using any other technique to program the mind, while Holosync drives the message into your subconscious mind. Then the Holosync technology brings deeper into Delta and gently erases any negative beliefs that are hindering or opposing this new mental programming. Holosync is truly powerful!
To sum up this post I can say, from personal experience, that Holosync is extremely powerful and delivers on all its promises!
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.
This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.
On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.
Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.
THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.
While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.
We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.
If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.
