Brainwave Entrainment Maximize Your Brain Power With Brainwave Entrainment Technology

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

There are two things in this life that many people do not know about their own brain. One of them is the fact that there are two aspects of consciousness that are actively ‘aware’ on a daily basis. One of them is the conscious mind, rife with all the defences of logical thought, rational processes and critical thinking – which allow us to go through life not reacting to everything based on emotion. This job is left up entirely to the subconscious mind; a part of us since we were born that takes orders from experiences and associations to determine our reactions, our phobias and who we are as individuals.

These two form a symbiotic and separate existence – yet they cannot function without another and through the various stages of life, each aspect of these consciousnesses has taken on a role. In our early childhood, the subconscious mind took the place of educator and learner, where we as children would understand events and happenings around us through emotion and association, the two main pillars of function within the subconscious mind.

As we get older, our conscious mind began to develop the functions of critical thinking and rationale thought, which meant we were able to dissect experiences with logical thought and understand them with a detached learning. While emotion and association will always be there, the effect will not be as a strong as it was before. However, all the associations, fears and phobias (and other character developments) that has happened during childhood has retained and will pass on through adulthood as it maintains its cyclic life cycle within the brain’s subconscious memory and instruction banks.

The other thing that we do not know about our brain is that it produces patterns based on electromagnetic frequencies that sensitive equipment can pick up easily. These brainwave patterns have been found by medicine and science to be associated with several peak performances of the brain, which can include better learning, higher creativity, mental focus, relaxation, accelerated healing, growth hormone level increases. These are just some of the applications of specific brainwave frequencies and they can be evoke with entrainment technology like engineered sub sonic sound or through visual stimulation like the dream machine.

The applications within the personal development industry have been enormous and the responses to this product have reached monumental levels. Thousands of people all over the world are gaining better brain power through the use of brainwave entrainment technology. More and more research is being pumped into the brainwave entrainment technology and as of now, the most popular form of the technology is CDs that use engineered sounds embedded into relaxing music to evoke a cortical response within the brain and align the two hemispheres to a frequency that is desired.

Anyone can use this technology because of its relative affordability and the ease of application. Just look online and you can find quite a few good products to help you boost and maximise your brain power and live life like you have never done before.

This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

There are two kinds of healing, one is physical and one is mental, and one guesses to which one is the more powerful one. Physical healing is really simple. It is the defense mechanism of the body to prevent the further spread of infection and disease. The blood will normally clot (if there is a wound internally or externally) and antibodies within the body will come in and clean up, the skin will harden (for external wounds) and healing will begin. Healing is a process that should take a few days, and the body is naturally equipped to deal with most things.

Of course serious injuries might require the help of outside doctors and surgeons, depending on the severity of the case, so you need to look at it at a case by case basis. Surprisingly enough, the body is quite relentless and resilient as a healing machine. It is naturally designed to be efficient and have the strong elements within it to rid itself of any external disease.

One thing you need to realize is that the body adapts. It is not ‘little girl’ to viruses that constantly mutate and change. The body can adapt to the introduction of a new virus and change the make-up of its antibodies and defense mechanisms to actually better fight off the virus the next time it tries to attach itself to the body. The other form of healing is mental healing, which happens when you have emotional trauma or injury, or if you are facing stress or depression. There are drugs to help you with the mental healing, although it sometimes is a matter of time.

The difference between the two is that mental healing is slow, and sometimes doesn’t happen at all if the trauma was too great or if there was great emotional scarring. But seemingly the weaker of the two, it is the mind that can evoke a faster recovery in physical healing and it is the power of the mind that can wipe out any emotional and neural injury within the psychological makeup of the human being. This is why healing techniques of the mind is the most powerful of them all, because of its universal nature. Understanding this, you might be interested to know how to gain control of the sometime flighty mind, and you need to do this with relaxation techniques, yoga and aroma therapy are really good options when you are considering how to relax the mind.

Positive affirmation and new age mental messaging are also two potent ways in which you can train the mind to heal better. Brainwave entrainment is another way to go – a method which is much more focused, results orientated and effective. Think about this, a person who is in acute depression can actually fall sick, degenerate and die. The will to not live is something so powerful that it affects the functions of the person inside. Organs stop functioning and soon they wither. This is how powerful the mind is and if you can use that for good, for healing techniques – then you can overcome anything.

There are times when most of us have felt like the whole World is on our shoulders and that there aren’t enough hours in the day to cope with our modern lifestyle, but nowadays this is becoming the norm. The fact is though that we are often our own worst enemy and that the resulting stressful lifestyle is of our own doing.

There is nothing wrong with ambition and driving towards a successful goal, which can give you the purpose and desire to do well but there are steps you can take to make sure that your health doesn’t suffer through constant stress.

To make it easier to deal with stress you might find the following tips helpful:

1. Focus on doing the most important things first, rather than responding to lower level tasks that may seem more urgent.

2. Break down the overall task in hand into smaller units and allot an amount of time to each one. This will make it easier to see how much time you can afford for the more trivial tasks.

3. A tidy working area helps you to concentrate on the task in hand. Try to keep your workspace clear and focus on one thing at a time. Having too many things open will only cause a distraction and make it more difficult to get things completed.

4. Set goals – You would never think of starting out on a long journey without first planning a route, so plan your goals so that you reach your target by following well-defined steps so that you will keep motivated and take heart from reaching the next step closer.

5. Focus on the next task at hand and avoid being distracted by whatever is going on around you. Try to avoid working where there is noise or where the TV may be a distraction.

6. Give yourself small rewards for reaching your steps towards the goal and for getting to the final stage. This can make the whole process more enjoyable and avoid you being unduly stressed.

7. Try to gain the help of any willing family members if your tasks are non work-related. By sharing and getting others involved it can help you cope and also get the job done faster.

Continuing in a stressful state will cause your health and well being to suffer and this is no good for you or those around you. Rather than treating it as a matter of choice between your health and job, try to keep a healthy balance and make sure you keep control of your own time. Very often it is the sense of having no control of your own time that can cause a problem. The other consideration is the effect on your relationships and your loved ones. You may have to reconsider your lifestyle if it is having a detrimental affect on your work-life balance.

Brainwave Entrainment Using Meditation to Assist in the Art of Allowing

There are three Universal Laws: The Law of Attraction; The Law of Deliberate Creation (sometimes referred to as The Science of Deliberate Creation), and; The Law of Allowing (also referred to as The Art of Allowing).

The Law of Attraction is very simple…that which is like unto itself is drawn. This is the most powerful, all-encompassing of the Universal Laws. It is the Law to which everything that happens can be attributed. We have no influence over the operation of the Law of Attraction. Like gravity, this law is always at work. Just as “what goes up much come down” is a persistent, ubiquitous consequence of gravity, the manifestation of those things upon which we focus is always the outcome of the Law of Attraction. While we cannot change the Law…we can change the things that “we throw up”, or the things we focus on, and in so doing we change “what comes down”, or the manifestations that we experience.

The Law of Deliberate Creation says that we create that which we think about. If we can deliberately focus our thoughts on that which we desire, we can create any outcome that we want. If we can focus on a pure desire for 68 seconds, we can begin the manifestation of that desire.

The Law of Allowing states that when we are in vibrational alignment with our desire, it will, at that point, come into our existence. The “trick” to allowing is to give up the needing, the fear, the want, the control and simply allow our expressed desires to be delivered by Universal Power. As physical beings, we tend to be “wired” to be control oriented. We want to influence the way something happens. We have a need to worry something until it happens-or not. Unfortunately, most of our worry focuses on the absence of something, or on the presence of a desired something and while our stated desire may be for what we want, our alignment is with that which we do not want…and so we get stuck.

It is important to recognize that our ability to desire something ensures that we can have it. Once we have expressed our desire, it goes into vibrational escrow until we allow ourselves to feel good and come into vibrational alignment with the positive expression of our desire.

It can be a challenge to “not think about something” and while we can force ourselves to focus on the affirmative side of our desire for periods of time, that is difficult while we are in our conscious state, since we are continually reminded about what we do not have.

Meditation quiets the mind. It stills the active, conscious thoughts and allows us to stop resisting. Active, guided meditation can provide us with focused periods of pure thought about our desire, without the tendency to drift back to the “side”. Passive meditation allows the simple quieting of the mind…and so allows our vibrational level to rise naturally to the level of our desires.

In passive meditation, one simply sits quietly for 15 or 20 minutes, breathes normally and focuses on one’s breathing. When thoughts drift in, and they will, they are simply released and focus returns to the breathing. It may be helpful to use quiet music or sounds of nature in the background. Today it is also possible to find binaural beat or brainwave entrainment audio accompaniments to meditation which very effectively help draw the mind into synchronized theta levels (which are the same as those when we are in the dream state) and allow very effective quieting of the buzz of conscious thoughts. Doing passive meditation once or twice a day will be of tremendous value in the Allowing process. During these quiet moments the pure value of our desires are allowed to manifest without the confusion of conscious thought, and so manifestation can come much more quickly.

Active, or guided meditation takes the form of holding an intent to think about a specific thing, like our desire, as we go through the meditative process. Now, instead of focusing on our breathing, we focus on our desire. This is very powerful. Again, it is possible to find audio aids which can, in semi-hypnotic ways, guide you into meditative relaxation and the absence of conscious noise and facilitate the focus on a specific desire. Exercising this form of pure thought powerfully influences the manifestation of desires.

Meditation helps us escape from the conscious blockages that impact our ability to effectively allow that we are trying to deliberately create by capitalizing on the Law of Attraction. Anyone who wishes to take control of their “manifestational life” should begin an active, daily program of meditations.

There are three skills you can develop through the Buzzing of the Bee strategy
created by Emile Coue over a century ago. Our experience with thousands of students is that it is practical and effective.

Benefits

a) reduce and eliminate pain,

b) eliminate stress and replace anxiety with feelings of pleasure,

c) learn and remember like an Einstein.

Emile Coue (Kway), a French chemist and psychologist (1857-1926), discovered
how to help fix emotional and physical disruptions of the human mind and body.
He is the father of conscious autosuggestion and the first Do-It-Yourselfer for personal healing. Google: Self Mastery Through Conscious Autosuggestion, 1922.

He was an early believer that physically and mentally upset (pain and stress) causes our electrical energy system to breakdown (suffer a disruption) in its bioelectric neuropathways. Coue` trained patients to help heal their minds and bodies through
a simple system of autosuggestion. It worked quickly and consistently.

So

How do we know Coue` was not just another crackpot or scam guy?

Neuroscience

A disruption of the human energy system is scientifically measurable with an
EEG (Electroencephalogram) indicating the brainwave rhythms in cycles
per second (Hz). The electrical metric of our heart is clearly visible with an EKG
(Electrocardiogram). If your circuit breakers pop, your ten-watts of electricity
stop flowing causing physical (pain or stroke) or mental (depression) disorders.

fMRI

Today, a fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imagery) scan produces computer
views of our brain in action. It shows the flow of blood into the structures of our brain as we react to our relationships and environment.

Our brain triggers instinctive reactions when we are stressed, filled with angst, or excited with pleasure. The brain causes our body to react with fight-or-flight or relaxation through the release of hormones and neuropeptides for survival and self-preservation.

Coue and his autosuggestions register positive brainwave changes through conditioning (programming).

The First Step

Coue offers a strategy and specific instructions to program you own mind
through repeating his unique Target Affirmation.

Every Day in Every Way, How Can I be completely healed of my stress and discomfort and feel Better And Better?

It must be repeated five-times with your eyes closed prior to falling asleep (hypnagogic), and five-times on awakening (hpynopompic), and during a midday
10 minute meditation. It takes about two-minutes to repeat the Target Affirmation
five-times. It reaches both our conscious and non-conscious minds; and our left and right brains.

Every Day in Every Way, How Can I be completely healed of my stress and discomfort, and feel Better-And Better?

The Second Step

The secret of first reducing and then eliminating physical or emotional pain in our body is tapping the area with the index and middle fingers of the hand on the opposite side.
It is called decussation and chiasma, a crossing over of the fibers of our nervous system causing your right brain to control your left side of your body and vice-versa.

Example

Your left kneecap is throbbing with pain and giving you a powerful headache. You use your right hand (index and middle finger) to tap gently seven-times in the center of your kneecap while reciting your Target Affirmation. Do the Coue` strategy once with your eyes closed, and once with your eyes opened. It takes up to two-minutes.

Mental Visualization

To produce a permanent improvement, mentally see a healing beam of light penetrating your kneecap as you tap seven times and repeat your Target Affirmation for two-minutes.

Quick Fix

A Chicago attorney sent us an email about his practical use of the Buzzing of The
Bee. He was skiing alone at Vail and slammed into a tree and buried over his head in the icy white stuff. He was conscious and scared for his life listening to his heart
racing like death was knocking at his door.

No one came, it was 6 am, and he was getting frostbite in his hands and feet.
He decided to try the nutty Coue` Buzzing of the Bees to take his mind off his
pain and anxiety. Later he said this was the first time he had ever use the strategy
since graduating. And he thought it really dumb and uncool.

He closed his eyes, gathered up his attention and intention, and began to hum his
Target Affirmation – Every day in every way, how can I save my ass right now, and feel better and better?

Danny got up a head of steam and began to sing it louder and louder and
started sweating. He began to manipulate the fingers of both hands causing him more pain. Soon he was rolling the fingers across the two thumbs faster and faster and the circulation seemed to improve.

Now he began to mental visualize a team coming to dig him out. He pictured himself
sitting in front of a roaring fire at the lodge giggling about his adventure, with a
beautiful companion. Soon he was smiling and within minutes laughing at how stupid he was to believe in such an insane thing as Coue` and his goofy Every Day…

Now he started pushing himself around the buried space using his hands and feet
as if he was swimming. He concentrated on a different Command Affirmation that
went, Its going, going, going …gone. It sounds like a bee buzzing as you crunch the
words together. The last time you add, And-it-is-so. He did it for five more minutes.

Nobody came. He was feeling like an ass repeating these incantations. It was not lawyer-like and his partners would have him disbarred for being superstitious.

He push upward, the ice cracked and he could see the sunshine. It took another half-hour of singing Every Day in every way how can I save my dear-old-ass and feel better and better? He was tapping with his fingers. He continued with the crazy mind pictures because it made him feel better. He thought, what could it hurt?

Finally he was actually feeling better and he decided to recite the B.I.N.G.O song.
There was a farmer who had a dog and Bingo was his Name-o. He thumped the letters, B-I-N-G-O against his sides and widened his snow-trap even more.

No one came. It took another 60 minutes and Danny worked his way upward and
outward. Yes, really; look, it is his experience.

He dragged himself to the lodge singing Every Day…and crying every step of the way. Took another hour. He had a broken left ankle, a severely sprained wrist.

Go figure.

There are thousands of relaxation techniques for anxiety in use today. Many employ the use of visualization, breathing, and even exercise. You can go to any library, or do an internet search, and find a multitude of ways on how to handle stress.

But just like anything else, if you know about them and don’t put them to use, then they’re no good to you. The differences have evolved over the years, and advanced even more quickly in the past decade, due to the technology explosion.

Now the brainwaves can be studied, allowing them to also be manipulated. The brain emits brainwaves at certain ‘frequencies’ which can be monitored by special equipment, such as EEG equipment. The brain waves of a person who is asleep are different from one who is awake.

Brainwave entrainment brings about a harmony between the vibration of your desired effect and your brain itself. In other words, if you want to use entrainment as relaxation techniques for anxiety, then you need to apply a relaxing vibration to your brainwaves.

Some techniques of the past involved: sitting in certain positions, visualizing certain pictures, chanting, counting backwards, breathing in certain ways, and many other methods of bringing about relaxation. These techniques will help your learn how to handle stress much better.

But with technology growing leaps and bounds, we are now able to understand better ways of stimulating the brain and producing calming and relaxing effects with more ease, and with results of much more quality.

Knowing how to handle stress is life-saving. So stress relaxation techniques for anxiety and stress are essential if you want to maintain your health.

There are things in life that one cannot escape from. For some of us, eczema seems to be on that list. This skin problem can be caused by many things such as allergy to food or cloth, an imbalance of fatty acids and even stress.

My two daughters are already an example of eczema victims who get it because of different reasons. My eldest daughter gets it when she is stressed out. If there’s an upcoming exam that she knows she’s not well-prepared with, I can almost guarantee you that her anxiety will extend to her skin and a flare-up will soon be our problem again. My second daughter gets her eczema from food. You can expect a flare up extending to the skin on the face after a few hours of eating just a leg of chicken.

This is the reason why I have done my best to research on the natural remedies for eczema. Most doctors have recommended steroids and medicines that have their own side effects if taken too often for a certain period of time. Sometimes, the flare ups will respond to these treatments but there are times that these are not enough. Secondly, these prescribed drugs can be very expensive! If you are rich then good for you but for me, the side effects still matter especially when the price is already too high as it is. Here are some natural stuff you can do for both healing and preventing eczema.

1. When the blisters and redness are too much to bear, you can put a bit of milk on ice so that it cools for about a few minutes. Then soak a gauze or cotton pad into the very cold milk and place it on the affected areas. Leave it on for about 2 minutes and repeat the cycle over collectively for ten minutes.

2. Sea salt can also be scrubbed on the blisters and affected areas to promote better blood circulation and faster healing. I know it may sound painful but there are some who swear that this is very effective and relieving because it encourages the skin to secrete its natural oils. You just need to put together a couple of cups of fine sea salt, a quarter cup of olive oil or jojoba oil and a few drops of your favorite essential oil such as lavender (optional). Simply wet the affected area with warm water then gently scrub the salt mixture in a circular motion on the skin. Let it stay on the skin for a few moments and savor the tingling sensation before washing it off with plain warm water again.

3. Licorice root can also be used by putting it on the blisters and red skin. This herb can reduce the swelling and the itch.

4. Another concoction you can apply to the problem area is an equal combination of almond oil, rosehip seed oil and sesame oil.

5. Cod liver oil is a great help to balance the problem with fatty acids and can be taken a teaspoon a day.

6. Primrose oil taken 250 to 300 mg a day can help reduce the inflammation because it also known as a good herb to balance the problem of fatty acids.

7. Taking 50mg of grape seed extract thrice daily can help remove lessen the itch because of its antihistamine properties.

8. Licorice root can also be soaked in around ten ounces of water. Let it stand for a quarter of an hour before taking it orally thrice daily. Just take it moderately because it can result to high blood pressure.

9. Burdock Root Extract can also made into tea and can bring relief. Adults are advised to take it twice a day for a week and children may drink it one daily for the same period of time.

10. Lavender essential oil can also be used either as replacement for soap or an ingredient for a mist spray. Simply put three drops of its essential oil into the bath water and use this to clean the skin especially of children. As a spray, you can mix ten to twenty drops of the oil into 2 ounces of purified water.

11. Oatmeal can also be a great scrub and replacement to soap. Simply powderize oatmeal in a blender. Gather the pulverized oatmeal into a cotton handkerchief or gauze before dipping it in the water and gently scrubbing it all over the skin. Oatmeal is a great moisturizer.

12. The simplest way to prevent eczema is to drink plenty of water daily to ensure skin moisture.

13. It is also advisable to chart what you eat and discover what foods result to a break out on your skin. Some go as far as consulting with a dietician depending on the severity of their cases.

14. Always keep your beddings clean because dustmites are also a significant cause of eczema.

15. Make sure that your clothes and the textile that frequently rub your skin (hanky, beddings, etc.) are not synthetic fabrics because most patients of eczema are allergic to these.

16. Also try being conscious of your reaction to stress. Stress has been proven to cause eczema flare ups and finding ways to control pressure just might help lessen your skin problems. You may try meditating for relaxation daily. It may be hard so if you need help doing this, you can try getting some meditation cds that use brainwave technology. There are also many free ebooks on how to control stress from self-improvement gifts.com that you might want to check out.

There are many solutions that nature herself has produced for the things like eczema and it may be worthwhile to check on them instead of spending so much money of drugs that can also have side effects in the first place.

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Brainwave Entrainment Should You Listen to Meditation Music When You Meditate?

There are the schools of meditation that say you should not meditate to music, that you should only meditate in silence.

But what if there was music that actually deepened your meditation? That simply by listening to the music, you were able to experience far deeper states of meditation than you would without listening to the music.

So first we have to consider what makes good meditation music.

Any meditation music where there is a drum beat should be thrown out. Because any drum beats or rhythms will keep your heart rate high and this keeps you from moving into the very deep states of relaxation where true meditation takes place.

Another thing to consider is what you are actually listening to. If you are listening to music that is purely synthesized, meaning the actual sounds you hear are made from electronically produced sound waves, then such music can give you a headache and not be conducive to meditation.

Another thing to consider is the meditation state of the musician making the music. If the musician has attained a high state of meditation, then their meditative state will be recorded in the music that you hear.

There are many “brain entrainment” audio programs on the market. These are CDs with what are called “binaural beats.” Binaural beats are two separate electronically produced sine waves, one played in the left channel and one played in the right channel. These two sine wave drones are slightly different in frequency.

The idea behind binaural beats is that they manipulate your brainwaves into slowing down, thus creating a “meditative state.”

Although such programs may do something, my experience is that they are a hindrance to experiencing true states of meditation, not helpful. Plus they are as electronic as you can get.

You would be far better off listening to a chant or a talk either on DVD or Audio CD of an enlightened teacher. By listening to their voice, their own state of enlightenment gets transmitted to you through sound. Although it may not be very musical in nature, meditating to this would deepen your meditation considerably.

But there is meditation music on the market that does induce states of meditation naturally, without electronic sounds and without manipulating your brainwaves. Through special recording equipment, high states of meditation have been recorded and turned into sound. And so when you listen to the music, that same deep blissful state of meditation gets naturally awakened in you.

There are the conventional treatments such as drugs, surgery and physical therapy. But there are some diseases that can’t be cured by conventional medicine and are still under studies. Sometimes it’s not just the diseases that bothers individuals but other problems such as addiction, unhappiness, anxiety and other personal problems. This is where a phenomenal therapy using binaural beats comes in. What are binaurals in the first place and how can these contribute to one’s wellbeing?

The brain is such a powerful organ, scientists and researchers have not yet uncovered its full potential. It is said that people use only a fraction of their brain’s potential and to be able to use it 100% can make all the things we might find impossible today, possible. The binaural tones said to affect the brainwave entrainment that produces the therapeutic effect that one wants. There are beats that can boot energy, alleviate pain, aid in weight loss, produce deep sleep and help in smoke cessation.

The needed materials are very simple. One just needs a headset, a player and the binaural beats mp3. The place where this should be conducted must be quiet and relaxing. It can be done while lying on a bed or sitting on a chair. Then, just listen to the desired tune and let it work its magic. There are free binaural beats that can be downloaded online to check if it would work for you before investing on a CD. What one should keep in mind is the fact that each beats can have various effects on the brain because everybody is unique and respond to every stimulus differently.

How can these simple beats work and produce such extraordinary effect? The two tones being played has different frequencies and produces a beat that is heard by the ear and then interpreted by the brain and thus producing an effect depending on the beat being played. This phenomenon is called frequency following response. For example 14 Hz increases alertness/attentiveness while 38Hz frees endorphins, a brain chemical that makes a person feel happy and contented. It may sound ridiculous at first but for those that believe that their mind’s hidden capabilities can be tapped this might just be the right therapy to use.

There are a lot of scepticisms in this therapy. One of them is the power of suggestion and placebo effect that really produces the positive outcome and not the beat or the Hz itself. The power of suggestion and placebo are phenomenon that happens when a person thinks that something, that has no healing effect, would really help him and causes the body to respond to his positive mindset. There are a lot of research and experiments either proving or disproving this theory but each provides different results.

What one must consider or think about is that everyone are so unique that each responds differently even to the same medicine, therapy or stimulus. Binaural beats may not be for everyone but one can never know until it has been tried. The brain is so powerful that being able to fully control it or use even just half of it might just be the answer to almost all of the people’s health problem issue.

There are so many kinds of music – country western, classical, eastern, rap, pop, hip hop, rock and roll, soul…what kind of music are you listening to, and how is it affecting your level of stress?

Music moves us – listening to a sad song can make us feel melancholy, soft jazz piano can calm and soothe us, and rock can make us feel strong, excited, even free. Music has been proven to speed healing, is used in malls to put us in the mood to buy, in churches for inspiration and much more. So can you use music to influence your mood and lower your stress in your daily life? Absolutely.

First, consider your general mood. Are you normally stressed, happy, positive, sad, angry, fearful, even shy? Are there consistent times in your life that you would like to change your mood – maybe the drive home from work, or getting up in the morning, or maybe you stress at night, laying in bed, tossing and turning?

For me…it’s that low energy time around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon. I’ve usually been working since six in the morning or so, and I need a little pick up. For me, it could be a little Van Halen or White Snake, or maybe a little Santana. Other people may prefer some upbeat jazz, or pop music. It doesn’t really matter, as long as it makes you feel good.

How does music influence our mood like this?

There are many ways music influences our mood. Music is energy – vibrations that have a certain frequency. As we listen to the music, our brainwaves may adjust to match the vibrations of the music. This is why music can be very effective for meditation and hypnosis, it can actually “entrain” the brain to enter a deeper, or more relaxed, aware state.

Your memories may also be part of the influence of music. Many times, the brain stores emotion alongside memories – if a song makes you blue, you might remember a time when you were really sad, and that song came on the radio, virtually anchoring itself to that sad feeling. Your brain would create a direct link between the song and the emotion, so every time you hear the song, that emotion is accessed as well.

Words can also have a large effect on us…there may be words in the music that really resonate with you, like in some inspirational songs. You may relate to the story of a song because of a similar experience. These things can strike a chord (pun intended) with you and alter your mood.

Many people listen to music in the background while they work, drive or do other things. They are not focused on the music, but their inner mind does take it in. If you listen to music with negative or harsh words or themes, you might want to consider that many times when listening to music, people have a tendency to enter into an altered state of awareness. The conscious mind is distracted with work, but the subconscious, or inner mind, is recording and storing it. This can actually cause you to feel more stress. If you listen to a lot of negative music or other media, consider that it can have a negative effect on your beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions. Of course, listening to positive music can have a positive effect on your beliefs, thoughts feelings and actions.

You can use music as a tool to help you achieve the feelings that you want. If you want to have a more relaxed environment at work, play music that calms you and helps you to focus. There is music that is specifically designed to help you meditate, coaxing your brainwaves into a specific pattern. You can play upbeat music when cleaning the house or exercising. If you’re feeling down you can listen to inspirational music.

Music can have a big influence on your mood, increasing your ability to relax, making you feel good, increasing your focus and much more. When you choose music for yourself and the people around you, consider how you want to feel, then choose music that can help produce that feeling.
