Brainwave Entrainment Brain Classes

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

I could see brain classes in community college schedule books soon, perhaps as a continuing education class, and as research continues to advance what we can legitimately claim for brain fitness, perhaps even four year schools or graduate schools would include a brain class, or an improve your brain class.

Research is advancing the concept rapidly, and brain salons and brain fitness programs are popping up at senior centers around the country.

What might a brain class include?

Brain Classes-Physical Exercise

I have not seen a brain fitness blog or website yet that does not speak to the benefits of physical exercise for brains of all ages. So a brain class would definitely speak to the need for physical fitness.

Brain Classes-Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to rearrange itself, actually its synaptic connections, in response to novel challenge, with novel being a very important word. For a counselor, reading another book about counseling will not increase synaptic connections.

Learning a new language or starting piano lessons would encourage neuroplasticity, which is very good for the older brain. Don’t have to master it folks, just do it, for the brain to benefit. All the neurons involved in the circuit learn to fire together, and the more active the circuit is, the longer the brain keeps it.

Brain Classes-Neurogenesis

Not too long ago neuroscientific dogma said that brains do not grow new neurons past age five or so. That is an overturned dogma, because we do grow new neurons. In fact, now the scientists are attempting to find out what it takes to cement them into already existing circuits, because it appears that we do not keep all that we have birthed.

Neurogenesis can be encouraged with, you guessed it, novel challenge, exercise, nutrition, stress management, and good sleep.

Brain Classes-Nutrition

You will want to rush out for some dark chocolate for its phytochemicals. (But not milk chocolate!) The best foods for our brains and our bodies are foods eaten as they are grown, preferably locally grown. Processed foods have the nutrition milled out of them, are filled with appetite stimulants, MSG, which is an excitotoxin, and high fructose corn syrup, and processed foods contribute significantly to obesity, which is not good for your brain. Processed foods are built, engineered actually, for long shelf life, not nutrition.

Brain Classes-Computerized Brain Fitness Programs

A brain class would certainly include an evaluation of the currently available computerized brain fitness programs. Whether they are of the short and sweet variety or the long and tedious, there are a number of programs available which the research says are valuable tools for neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. And they are updating rapidly. In fact, there is an incredible competition in the market place between some of the companies who are creating those programs.

Brain Classes-Stress Management

The one thing that I routinely see in my reading as dangerous to neuroplasticity is stress hormones, like adrenalin and cortisol. So a brain class would certainly include information about breathing and visualization and relaxation. There might even be information about biofeedback, of the peripheral or brainwave or heart rate variability biofeedback types, all of which can be used to convert stress hormones into something more helpful like DHEA.

Brain Classes-Sleep

A brain class would definitely include information on the need for regular and healthy sleep. A great deal of consolidation happens in the brain when we are asleep, and if we do not get appropriate rest, that consolidation is not effectively completed, to the detriment of our well being.

Look in your community college catalog before next semester to see if your community will have brain classes.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

Brainwave Entrainment Using Meditation With Your Law of Attraction Practice

I cannot overemphasize the benefits of daily meditation as an integral part of a law of attraction practice. It has long been known that meditation can lower blood pressure and helps with depression and anxiety. In addition, meditation clears the mind and releases resistance, which in turn allows your desires to start flowing more naturally to you. As a bonus, meditation creates a fertile state for imaginative ideas to flow from inside.

There are many types of meditation practices. A comprehensive description of the types of meditation would take a great deal of time. Instead, I will talk about some simple meditations that a busy person might use in this article. I will also present a simple mindfulness meditation that can be used. It will be up to you to explore further and decide upon a meditation practice if you so choose.

Mindfulness Meditation

This mindfulness meditation was adapted from a Buddhist meditation called Vipassana. Start by choosing a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Then sit in a comfortable position. You can sit in a traditional cross-legged position or in any other position that is comfortable. You can use a chair if you want. It is important thing is to keep your spine straight to prevent you from becoming sluggish or sleepy. Initially, the goal of meditation is to lessen distractions and clear your mind.

Sit with your eyes closed and turn your attention to your breathing. Breathe naturally, preferably through the nostrils. Do not attempt to control your breath. Now become aware of the breath as it enters and exits the nostrils. This sensation will be the object of your meditation. Try to focus on it only.

Your thoughts will eventually stray to more mundane matters. That is perfectly alright. As soon as you realize your thoughts have strayed, return your focus to the breath. Use a timer and do this for fifteen to thirty minutes per day. Just like anything, this requires practice. Try to avoid frustration with the process. On some days, meditation will work better than on others.

Mantra Meditations

Centering Prayer is a westernized form of meditation in the Christian tradition. Its main proponent is Father Thomas Keating. First you choose a “sacred word” which resonates with you, such as “Yeshua.” You then sit comfortably, close your eyes and silently repeat the word in your mind. As your attention wanders, return your mind to the sacred word. I used this method for many years with good results.

Attraction and Desire with a Meditation Practice

Be aware that some meditation practices have associated philosophies that encourage the releasing of desires. This would imply that desires themselves are undesirable (strange logic). Law of attraction teachers, however, will tell you that there is nothing wrong with a healthy desire and that it is the resistance, not the desire, which you want to release.

Brainwave Entrainment

There are soundtracks available using binaural beats technology that can entrain your brainwaves into theta states similar to those of someone who is meditating. You need to use headphones to get the full effect. After using some of these products, I can attest to the fact that they do move your brain activity into different states as advertised. However, I don’t know that the long term benefits are the same as meditation. Through meditation, you learn to move on your own into higher states of consciousness.

Guided Meditations

Guided Meditations are available from various sources as audio programs on CD or MP3 format. A guided meditation is one where the leader speaks a narrative, usually to background music. The words lead you into a deeper meditation. For some people that have difficulty meditating on their own, guided meditations are a good idea. Guided meditations are particularly good for noisy or busy places such as public transportation.

Times and Places for Meditation

While it is best to practice meditation in a quiet, private place, with practice you can meditate in other places. Any place where you can find a moment of aloneness will do. Public transportation, airports, parked cars and public parks all are places where you can practice meditation. You may need to use background music or guided meditations through headphones to offset any noise in the environment.

Of course, don’t meditate or listen to guided meditations while driving or operating equipment.

Meditation Resources

There is an abundance of meditation teachers and classes both in person and online. Techniques range from the simple (like the one in this article) to in-depth multi-year programs. Sometimes a good teacher can help you if you have any difficulties meditating.

Regularity of Practice

To achieve the full benefit, you should meditate at least once daily, for at twenty minutes to one half hour. It is important to be regular and not skip days if at all possible. Once you have developed a consistent practice, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.

Using Affirmations with Meditation

Affirmations are affirmative statements used by students of the law of attraction describing their reality as they see it and know it. For instance, “I am attracting wealth everyday” is an affirmation. If you use your affirmations when you are not feeling in alignment, you will not get the benefit that you seek. Instead, use your affirmations after your meditation, when you are in a higher vibrational state and more receptive.

I hope that you find this article helpful on you journey to attraction. Namaste and unconditional love to you.

I came across some thoughts on how KM is being reflected through cartoons.

Cartoons are fun but they do not just provide entertainment value alone. They also teach us a lot. How to be sportive, how to recover from a deadlock situation, how to look at the lighter side of things, how to forgive, how to laugh out openly, how to be creative and a whole lot more. Cartoons certainly prove a point or two in the examples below.

Jerry writes a book on Tom and Jerry’s encounters and gets a sack of money for it from the publisher. Not knowing anything about it till that moment, Tom is just about getting angry and enraged when Jerry shows him that 50% of the cheque amount had been made out in Tom’s name. It was a question of putting their abilities together to get the money, even if we are only referring to Tom’s ability to chase Jerry. Of course, Jerry had the values and attitude to not run away with the money but share it with his “partner”.

Popeye depends on his spinach more than anything else for his strength. However, there were occasions when his hands were tied and he could not get to the spinach. In these circumstances, it was another partner who teamed up and provided him the spinach.

Dexter might be a genius but it took his sister to ask him a few silly questions at times to get a brainwave.

The Power Puff Girls are certainly complete only when they are a team of three and not even one less. Enemies run haywire when they see the girls together.

Given all this, one does not have to search long to find the reason why the coyote never seems to be able to catch the road runner in The Road Runner series or why Sylvester is never able to catch Tweety in The Loony Tunes. The coyote and the cat are not part of a team respectively.

Brainwave Entrainment Getting Started With Seeing Auras

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

I believe anyone is capable of seeing auras. It just takes some practice. With time and dedication and a little help it can be achieved by everyone. It is a skill after all, and not something many people can just do. There are many people who have had the ability to see auras for a long time now and could be considered experts. One thing that has been known to help people see auras are binaural beats.

Binaural beats are audio tracks played in stereo where each ear receives a track at a slightly different frequency. Your brain puts them together creating a single beat. The difference in frequency helps the brain stimulate a specific state of consciousness. This is known as binaural training or brainwave entrainment.

There are of course many skeptics – both in terms of seeing auras and the power of binaural beats. My advice is of course to simply give it a shot. You are able to get hold of simple binaural beats at very inexpensive rates. There is no need to tie yourself in to contracts or larger sums of money. Educate yourself as best you can and find something that applies to the type of activity on which you wish to focus.

Do not expect to just see auras straight away. Do not be afraid of the binaural beats. They are nothing to be worried about – they simply relax and focus your brainwaves. To start with try and simply sense auras, and with time and practice your skills will develop. Please do not get disheartened and remember there is plenty of help available.

I am sure you have heard of binaural beats at least once before. You may even be aware of exactly what they are. But do you realize the vast potential they have for changing your life?

Through a process called brain entrainment you change your brainwaves to reflect a variety of mental and physical states merely by putting on some stereo headphones and listening to a specific binaural beats track!

By listening to the correctly chosen binaural beats recording through stereo headphones you can experience a variety of states from relaxation to improved concentration and increased energy.

Some of the benefits you can receive from this technology include:

– Less stress.
– Improved emotional, mental & physical health.
– Improved concentration.
– Better memory.
– More creativity.
– Reduced learning times.
– Increased retention of learned knowledge.
– Deeper and more revitalizing sleep.
– Faster healing.

So What are Binaural Beats?

Binaural Beats are an auditory phenomenon that occurs when two tones, that are similar but slightly different in frequency, are sent to each ear independently. The left ear hears one of the tones and at the same time the right ear hears the other tone. Because the tones are similar the brain blends them together to make just one sound. However, because the tones are not identical and differ slightly in frequency the brain creates a beat that has a frequency that is the difference between the two tones. The actual beats themselves do not exist and are merely an illusion created by the brain.

Binaural beats have the unusual effect on the brain of producing brainwaves that are the exact same frequency as the beats themselves. Thus by using binaural beats that are at a certain frequency you can create brainwaves at the same frequency.

Due to a great amount of research scientists have long known the exact brainwave frequencies associated with specific mental, emotional and physical states. Thus this technology you can now easily create these states just by listing to a recording in stereo!

The most common mental brainwave states are beta, alpha, theta and delta. These brainwave states have very specific frequencies and all correspond to specific mental, emotional and physical states. For instance when you are wide awake and alert you are in the beta state. Entering the alpha state allows relaxes the body and opens the mind to new learnings, experiences and suggestions. Theta occurs in dream sleep while delta brainwaves are apparent in deep restful sleep.

In only eight minutes you can experience any of the above states and a multitude of others by simply listening to a binaural beats recording!

Brainwave Entrainment How to Hypnotize People Easily

I am sure that you have watched old movies where someone took a swinging pendulum over a person, and gradually managed to get that person into a trance like state, where the hypnosis could have full control over the person. The question people often ask is, ‘How to hypnotize people’? With this article, we hope to be able to give you some insights on proven methods.

Firstly, you must understand that is it is extremely hard to hypnotize somebody who does not wish to be hypnotized. So you should only practice hypnosis on willing parties.

The setting should be in a dimly lit room, and your subject should preferably be sitting in a comfortable chair in the middle. He should not be lying down, as there is a possibility of him falling asleep, which would render your hypnosis attempt futile.

Use relaxation techniques to gradually slow their brainwave patterns to a certain desired level. This level will be pre-determined by what your subject wishes to accomplish in this hypnosis session:

Beta Waves – Prevalent when your mind focuses on events in the normal world

Alpha Waves – These appear when you daydream, and become stronger when you close your eyes.

Theta Waves – These occur during heightened sense of creativity or during a deep meditative state

Delta Waves – Appears in deep sleep states or deep meditation

Next, you should question the subject on his problems, and get him/her to delve into the real reason for the problem. You could even ask him what he feels is the best approach to solve this problem.

The hypnosis can offer suggestions that are either creative, or specific, in order to attain the goal of the hypnosis session.

When this has been done, the hypnosis should bring the subject back to the alert beta brainwave patterns, and discuss the highlights of your findings with the subject.

During this point, the hypnosis should be able to exercise control over his subject’s actions, thinking or mindset. This is the most crucial step.

When you are done, say to them something along the lines of “On the count of 3, you will be fully awake and alert, feeling great, and all your problems will be resolved”. You may also suggest that “You will remember everything you did”, or even “You will forget this conversation happened”. Then count to three.

The person should be slightly ‘dazed’ after the hypnosis, and be more susceptible towards suggestions for a while thereafter.

I am sharing some of my own personal secrets on how I work with my Super conscious almost daily. This is known as “The Alpha State.” We cannot manifest through our subconscious.

I have practised Alpha for seven years, and like most things, the more you practice something, the more adept you become. There are universal laws to adhere to, as karma plays a big part in the way we manifest. It works. I have used this method since 2007!

Slow Brain Rhythms.

Remember when things seemingly cruised along on auto pilot and you had that happy contented feeling that life is just nice. This indicates that you are triggering the slower brain rhythms.

The Changing Stages of Our Brain Which Occur Naturally.

Beta.. This is the quickest level of brain activity, mainly utilised by adults. Beta causes us to become intrenched in the physical dimension of time and space. This is the everyday life state, where we go to work and come home and watch television and we are aware of time and what is going on around us on the outside.

Alpha.. Is when the mind functions on inner source levels of intuition, creativity and inspiration. It is when the mind is in the Alpha state that our worries and anxieties of the physical world dissipate. It is not often we are in this state, and if we are it’s not for long periods. Alpha is an animated state.

Theta.. This is the slow range frequency, it’s at this level we fall asleep. Theta is a very low awareness of consciousness and we are not fully aware of physical sensations or control of bodily functions, for example our heart beat and breathing. Both Theta and Alpha are used in mediation.

Delta.. This state is where our brainwaves are at their slowest. It is in Delta that we have no awareness or consciousness. This state is also induced by anaesthesia and also coma. We have diverse altered states of consciousness we consistently slip in and out of without being aware of it, usually for short periods. We have done this since birth.

We function in Beta when we are at work, or out visiting friends or family. Most days we are getting about on a Beta level. The other mind states isolate us from our work and other people. Alpha and Theta allow us to be able to go into ourselves, in order to meditate. It may be a time when you are laying on your bed and Alpha slips in and you begin to feel relaxed and slip into the next phase of Theta, drifting off to sleep. We have been so conditioned to only using a small part of our minds, that it has rendered us ignorant in knowing we can allow our mind to operate and work for us effortlessly of our awareness to control these states of mind. We can control them.

Alpha is the key state of mind to be in when obtaining to create, or manifest something into your life. I compose artwork and write in the “Alpha super consciousness.” I find I cannot write if I am trying to do so in a sate of Beta. I manifested a new car, four years ago, and a home of my own, on its way, with all the plans set to go. I compose my best stories while in Alpha.

I consciously allow Alpha to take over when I have a problem to solve, or I am needing to help someone. It is a deep state of being able to go within, and seek answers from your higher self. It is when we are deep within ourselves, that we are able to manifest things into our life, because we break down all barriers. Native tribes use deep meditation, to walk over hot stones, without it leaving one single burn, and those who lay on a bed of nails, getting up without a scratch. The mind is connected to our heart. It has the same electrical impulses, which is an energy field that simply drives our consciousness on most levels. Every living being is energy. When you manifest, remember karma is always watching. Therefore it pays to always use the tool of your super conscious mind for the betterment of yourself and others.

Brainwave Entrainment Fate is a Joke – Why Biography is Not Destiny

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

I am probably the only author who has used a quote from “Chicken Run,” a very funny movie that’s set in a chicken farm that oddly resembles a World War II concentration camp.

Many of us spend our lives, or at least parts of them, in self-imposed prisons. If this is our own doing, why do we not simply decide to release ourselves? Why not indeed? Unfortunately, many of us believe that we just have to play the hand we’ve been dealt. Is biography necessarily destiny?

In most cases, we didn’t create the problem, yet we often perpetuate it. How and why? The prison bars are merely some of the patterns in our subconscious. These patterns, known as core beliefs, drive most of our behaviors, attitudes, and emotions. Some of them perform to our advantage, and some actually work against us. When we self-sabotage, we become aware of this imprisonment. Any time we notice negative self-talk or doubt our abilities, we are bumping into those prison bars.

Where and when do these core beliefs originate? Stay with me here. This is so basic that you might just miss the significance. Until children reach the age of about seven or eight, their brain waves are so slow that, in a sense, they are hypnotized. A defensive shield to ward off misguided influences is not yet in place. This protection, known as the “Critical Factor,” is built along with the conscious mind, and is fully-functional around the age of seven.

What about before that age? What are the implications of having no defense? This early part of a child’s life is known as the “Imprint Phase” of personality development. This is when the patterns are manufactured. Whatever a child hears, sees, or experiences is considered 100% valid and true. It has to be, because the sources are often giants – namely adults.

Patterns that operate against our best interests go hand-in-hand with a brittle self-esteem. The environments that spawn this condition are often influenced by parents or caretakers who are perfectionist, or who manipulate through conditional love. They are the unwitting caretakers who say things like, “Why can’t you be more like your cousin Jane? She’s always getting good marks.” Or perhaps, “Your room is so messy. You’re never going to amount to anything.” These kinds of scenarios inflict incredibly subtle mental and emotional damage. In essence, the child’s subconscious mind is being told that it’s flawed; that the child will never succeed and has no right to be taken seriously. This is the way fragile self-esteem and limiting beliefs are established.

OK, so how do we transform these patterns? Although there are many ways, I recommend hypnotherapy. Since the patterns are in the subconscious, you must address them at that level. A nationally-certified hypnotherapist can get the belief identified, and initiate a plan for its removal and replacement. The first step though, is to realize that you might have these unsupportive patterns that I’ve described here, and to then choose to do something about them. Your decision will empower you.

And the movie? Ginger, one of the main characters, says, “The fences aren’t just around the farm, they’re up here in your heads.” Truly, fate is a joke. You can take control of your destiny, despite your biography.

I am not sure if anyone has been watching out there, about the types of music that we are listening to. Let us look at them for a minute. Our grandparents listen to music like; “Happy Days are Here Again, the Skies Above Are Clear Again.” Kids today listen to RAP, which actually starts with a ‘C’ except the ‘C’ is silent in this new spelling and pronunciation. Its really, CRAP. A radio station in TX is actually called K-RAP. Perfect.

It is not that the music is so bad; actually it is good, because its rhythm and cadence puts people in a convergence state of mind. In other words it puts them into theta state of mind and that is where it is easier to suggest a new thought or to brainwash in sleep state. The initiation of such brainwaves is powerful indeed. These tactics are also used in certain churches and Sales and motivational seminars. Also during commercials and government uses them to some degree for important endeavors, for instance cadence in military marching. The gangster rap is not good in that it suggests killing, drugs, other gang activities while putting its listener into the convergence state of mind. This is a negative thing, and may cause these individuals to dwell on certain thoughts and give them ideas that they may with proper gang mentality attempt one or more of the activities talked about in the songs. It would be much better to have songs with that type of cadence, which promoted good deeds and love. Perhaps there are many of these types of songs yet they do not sell very well and I do not here positive rap songs as much as I should. Mostly the Gangster Rap.

Many Techno type songs are also negative in nature. But these songs do not have the proper beats per minute to put a person into a trance like state, where suggestive behavior is introduced that is a throw back to before the human change in society. Is it possible to disallow this type of music? Music is an escape for many people to the fast paced life, and being in a trace state is probably a good state to be in, if one wanted to escape from the world for a while. A strong Bass in a song and certain beats per minute introduce this convergence state, then the subject is 100 percent ready for fresh new input. Theta States of mind are induced and a waken dream state provides for easy subconscious input.

But what are we allowing to be put into these minds of altered state? Songs of this nature are better than drugs, yet the drugs would effect the singular and not the victims of the deed that are done once the behavior of an individual are altered through this convergence. There is freedom of expression in this country yet the listeners are not realizing the effect of the changes as they occur. They are being brain washed while listening to their favorite music. Which become more favored because it puts them in a trace state allowing them to escape from problems of life. Hey no one said life was easy, right? I believe Rappers should be thrown in the trash cans, not littering the minds of our youth. It costs businesses money for graffiti cleaning and tax payers money in police. The cost to society is too great to calculate as a whole, but it is real. Rather than eliminate a cultural phenomena.

Let us instead make each record label and artist (I use this loosely as I do not approve of the RAP, but without passing judgment) produce 10 songs with positive lyrics for every one song of negative lyrics. That solves that problem. People can still escape in their trance state, record companies still make money, the constitution is still upheld, but there will be less negative and more positive thought going on when trance like state is producing more of one chemical in the brain than another. A person in this state is easy to recognize, their eyes are glossy and remain so for while afterwards.

I am not old enough for Medicare but I am old enough that my children are having children. I am not old enough to recall The Great Depression but I am old enough to cringe at my mother’s hardship.

It wasn’t until recently that I became aware that the brain is capable of creating new neural pathways. The result is balanced neural pathways, balanced reactions to outside stimuli and higher emotional thresholds. This catapults mankind into the not-as-mysterious-as-it-once-was framework of our logical brain/illogical emotions is exciting at the least. The results are not an end in themselves but the beginning of a desperate quest for individual and collective peace, harmony and renewed creativity in a species lacking in both.

Wouldn’t ‘ya know it? This move toward individual and collective emotional wellness, in a world crippled by its odd need to limp through life, is naturally infused with its own unique element of surprise. For one, let’s consider why athletes’ reflexes slow around the age of 40. It all has to do with those fascinating neural pathways in the brain. How fast an athlete moves depends on how fast the athlete’s brain cells fire off commands to their muscles. Fast firing all depends on the integrity of the insulation around the brain’s wiring. As the athlete ages, recent research at UCLA suggests that insulation in the brain’s motor control area begins to lose integrity. In other words, the brain’s wiring begins to fray, simultaneously slowing its firing operation and the body’s physical response to commands.

There is a substance called myelin, a fat, that coats nerve fibers. When myelin in the brain is healthy it is a thick insulation around nerve fibers. Healthy myelin, for instance, during adolescence, prompts speedy electrical conduction of brain signals that command muscles. Perhaps this explains why youngsters are prone to “act before they think”. Perhaps their brains’ perfect myelin health prompts them to act before their thought unfolds! Anyway, around 40 years of age, research is finding that myelin around nerve fibers is compromised, allowing the nerve fibers to fray, delaying the electric signal commanding the body to move which results in slower reaction time.

Research has graciously yielded a few eye-opening clues to maintaining healthy myelin and repairing compromised myelin. ——— Keep active!

Unused neural pathways, weak in myelin, will not send out a “help signal”.

Physical and mental activity may encourage myelin repair. So if you are 40 or older you need to be concentrating on “repair”.

Myelin may be damaged by stress hormones.

Studies are being conducted on whether the consumption of omega-3-fatty acids promotes healthy myelin.Perhaps taking steps to maintain myelin health in our brain is as wise and as necessary to our brain as eating protein is to our muscles. Both a balanced brain and myelin health may be worth more consideration. It may alter our reactions to outside stimuli

I wasn’t alive during The Great Depression but according to my mother who survived it, the only thing “Great” about it was the great amount of misery it inflicted upon a nation.

We must avoid another at all cost. We need new ideas on how to avoid meltdown, achieve emotional wellness and promote peace on earth all while” thinking green”. There is a lot on our plates and It is obvious that we could use some new tools to reach our goals.

No doubt we are poised on the rim of many amazing technological advancements when it comes to the human brain. Individually, we play life-changing and potentially world-changing roles in this universe. I would love to experience our future on this planet with enlightened objectives made possible by improved emotional health and mental clarity.

For centuries, mankind has witnessed the results of individual, human energy. These people were often called “blessed”. Today, we say they are “famous”. Can you imagine the results of unifying our collective energy around the globe? If each of us paid attention to our brain health, pursued its potential then united in our health and strength, our planet would be revolutionized and our universe, mesmerized!
