I have engaged in thought, word and picture sending, joining, and possibly receiving for many years. I can quantitatively prove that a transfer occurs when I am sending. My understanding of dreams and their possible significance stems from decades of recording and studying my own dreams and those of others, in addition to extensive reading on the subject.

My purpose for studying my dreams is to gain a deeper understanding of myself, my whole self, by learning from the glimpse into my subconscious mind that is served up to me nightly in my dreams. My conscious thoughts are perfectly capable of finding all kinds of ways to hide less-than-desirable or challenging truths about myself in a misguided effort to placate my ego. Some may be of the opinion that dreams are meaningless, that they are mere static in our brainwaves or scattered and re-hashed fragments of our day or our past experiences. I do not engage in debate over those issues. I feel no need to convince. Dreams have certainly featured with cultural and spiritual significance in story, song and traditional sacred writings handed down from time immemorial. I will let that fact speak for itself of the importance of dreams in our human development.

I only present my approach to finding meaning within my own dreams in order that others who have a similar interest in cultivating personal growth through this means may use my experiences as a template for doing their own work. The proof of the efficacy of this type of inner work will be found in the insights gleaned for each individual.

My story

For many years I suffered from alcoholism and major depression, I would frequently consider suicide and I could not see any real reason to continue living. My world fell apart, I lost a highly paid job, was forced to move to an area where I did not want to live, my partner and children left me and I sought solace in alcohol. I lived on my own in chaos and my alcoholism became more of a problem, I was prescribed antidepressants which when mixed with alcohol left me spaced out of my mind. I knew I had to do something about my condition, alcohol was ruining my life and prescribed medication was only making things worse. My son won an award this month for being the most improved student in his grade eight class.

Things got a little better, the school year progressed and he seemed to have a handle on things– for a while.

And then I got the next call.

“Your son hasn’t boarded the bus from his field trip. He’s missing in West Edmonton Mall and we’re sending the bus back to the school. We’ll have a couple of teachers start looking for him. He’ll be expelled for this.”

He was found, swimming at the pool with a bunch of other boys.

He wanted to impress them so he did what they did.

Everything was going to hell in a handbag.

I found out from his home room teacher that he was failing his math–18% on the last exam and that he couldn’t focus in class.

We found him another psychologist and started all over again.

In the mean time, I decided to research brainwave entrainment. I’ve used entrainment for years to help me deal with loss, anxiety and depression, having worked in palliative care, and had great results. I had heard that there were several studies in the scientific community about brainwave entrainment and ADD.

Psychologist Michael Joyce used brainwave entrainment with a group of 30 children. After a short period of treatment, he observed improvements in reading, and a half year advancement in grade level. The children showed substantial improvements in attention, reaction and a marked reduction in impulsivity.

Harold Ruissel Ph.D and John Carter Ph.D did several studies using brainwave entrainment to treat ADD testing IQ before and after treatment. The results showed a consistent 5 – 7 point increase in IQ. There was a significant improvement in memory, reading and arithmetic and after one year, a major improvement in self-esteem, concentration, and self-expression.

My son was preparing for the next Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) not long ago. We consoled him that he didn’t need to care for the result if he did his utmost to overcome it.
