Brainwave Entrainment Overcoming Low Self Esteem is Easy With a Binaural Beats Download

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Overcoming low self esteem is a battle if you only engage in activities while in a the conscious state of mind. Most suggestions for improving self confidence involve making a continuous series of positive affirmations while your mind is in conscious state. The problem is that this does not address the root problems that exist in the subconscious mind. A binaural beats download is the boost to meditation to access the subconscious mind to make positive changes.

The subconscious mind is a very powerful force. It controls nearly 90% of our daily activities, most of the time with us not even being aware of it. The subconscious is composed of years of conditioning and experiences. If we have been constantly challenged on self-esteem, all of this negative experience is stored in the subconscious. Trying to make changes while in the conscious state only scratches the surface of our psyche and does not alter the foundations rooted in the subconscious.

Meditation is a way to enter the subconscious and make the necessary changes. This is a process of slowing brainwave activity from the high alert state of beta into the meditative frequency ranges of alpha and theta. When brainwave frequency is lowered to alpha and theta, you can open the door to subconscious and begin to remove the negative thoughts that have accumulated over the years.

The problem with meditation is that it has to be learned through instruction and can take hours of practice in order to get real results. A shortcut for more effective meditation is to listen to a binaural beats download while in a relaxed state.

A binaural beats download is a recording that introduces tones of different frequencies with a set of headphones. The brain senses this frequency differential and adjusts its own brainwave frequency to that differential. The binaural beats downloads are designed so that the differential is in the alpha-theta frequency ranges of 4-8 hz and 8-12 hz. These are the ranges where you can enter the subconscious mind.

By making positive affirmations while in the subconscious state, we can now begin to have a more permanent and lasting effect for overcoming low self esteem.

The beauty of a binaural beats download is that they are easy to use, don’t require a long training period, and can have an immediate effect. Binaural recordings can also be used to overcome addictions (smoking, for example), cure insomnia, build confidence, and inspire creativity and problem-solving.

This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

OVERCOME THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF SLEEP APNEA

Sleep apnea is surprisingly quite a common problem in people who suffer from interrupted periods of sleep. So what exactly is sleep apnea and do you know if it is the cause of your lack of sleep?

Sleep apnea is a cessation of breathing during sleep. This can be for a few seconds or up to about a minute each time and can occur several hundred times per night. Snoring and sleep apnea often occur together and is generally caused by an obstruction of breathing resulting in wakening up, although many sufferers may be unaware that they have the problem If you or your partner are a sufferer, the other person may notice heavy snoring or an interruption of the breathing pattern in their partner although the sufferer may not themselves be aware of it.

The most common form of this problem is what is known as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) where a physical condition is blocking the airways. This can be caused by enlarged tonsils, relaxed throat muscles, or the tongue preventing the air from reaching the lungs and making it more difficult to breathe, to something as simple as a bad sleeping position, on the back, for example. Overweight can also be a factor, fatty tissue in the throat can create an air blockage.

The effects of sleep apnea may cause the sleeper to awaken and disrupt the pattern of sleep. In many cases though, the individual is not aware of their sleep being interrupted, but the disruption to the pattern of sleep causes tiredness, irritability and lack of concentration during the day.

The pattern of sleep is, deep sleep, when the individual replenishes and revitalizes energies. This is a relaxed quiet period of sleep. REM sleep is the dreaming sequence which occurs several times a night. In this state the subconscious mind is active and the brainwave pattern too is much more active.

A restful sleep promotes the production of serotonin, which is the hormone which promotes the ‘feel good’ factor. Serotonin is converted into melatonin by the pineal gland in the brain which only becomes active at night. The regulating process by the body of the amounts of melatonin creates the sleeping and waking cycle. Disturbed sleep interrupts this and without the undisturbed cycle of healthy sleep the body is deprived of the ability to repair, replace and rejuvenate its’ energies and other needs. Lack of sleep impairs the quality of life leaving you drained of energy and feeling worn-out.

Discover how one ‘incurable snorer’ himself a sufferer of sleep apnea for many years, developed his own program (which even amazed doctors) to overcome his sleep problems and disturbed nights. With his simple routine, even if you are the worst snorer who ever kept the neighborhood awake all night, you can change all that for ever.

Researching these innovative techniques and taking the time to investigate what works for you could mean a long and peaceful sleep for everyone involved. There are ways to stop sleep problems and once you use the solutions designed for you, your family will be eternally grateful. You don’t need any kind of pills, creams, sprays, dental gadgets or even surgery to make this work. This very easy to follow method is aimed specifically at YOUR causes for disturbed sleep. Brainwave Entrainment What is Biofeedback?

Over time, the human body has developed the ability to control itself without requiring the constant attendance of the conscious mind. Subconscious activities such as the beating of the heart of the breathing of the lungs can be done without the mind having to actively will them to happen. This is largely a measure of self preservation; it frees up the consciousness to be able to freely engage in higher thought, and also allowed for us to survive long lapses of consciousness like sleep.

The idea behind biofeedback is simple: by teaching ourselves how to tap into the part of our brains that’s responsible for maintaining all of the underlying functionality of our bodies, we can become more in tune with what keeps them running at their peak. By learning to listen to and read the “biological output” our bodies generate in normal operation, we can learn to control certain aspects of ourselves that ordinarily wouldn’t be accessible to us. Things such as brainwave output, monitoring skin temperature and blood pressure, and employing better breathing habits can all be put under direct and conscious control, and the theory goes that by paying closer attention to what our bodies are saying to us, we can have an easier time using them to fight off illness and poor health.

Typically, the only way to go about accomplishing this is through the use of highly sensitive medical equipment. Using heart monitors, and devices which measure things like muscle tension and other physical manifestation of stress, medical professionals can help their patients to actually see a visual representation of their mental state. Things like the natural electrical impulses of the skin, and the distribution of body temperature over various areas of the body are also measured. Every piece of data yields useful information, but the aspects of the biofeedback session that a medical professional might choose to focus on the most will depend greatly on what’s afflicting the patient.

If the goal, for example, is to lower a patient’s blood pressure to a more healthy level, a biofeedback session can be used to gauge exactly what level of relaxation and stress release is required on the part of the patient to be able to attain the appropriate results. This allows medical patients to have a more more tuned relationship with their bodies, since they will know exactly how they’ll react to certain levels of external stress and stimuli.

The equipment necessary to measure biofeedback is going to depend on what aspect of a patient’s health the examiner wishes to adjust. By and large, once the instrumentation is in place, the rest is mostly trial and error. The patient runs through a gamut of emotional and physical states, and the data that’s produced gives them what they need in order to come to a reasonable determination about which aspects of their life may be causing them to experience stress-related disorders, to that they can make proper adjustments for the future.

Over time technology has helped man to move his physical body and things faster and faster and to more and more places he couldn’t go before.

Now technology is able to help man move his mind faster and to more places in the same way. This technology is Mind Technology.

Mind technology is developed from other technologies upon which it is based upon and which makes this possible. Technology such as electricity, electronic audio and computer.

What was once done at normal speed in the traditional way can now be accelerated to hyper speeds with technology. It is like being able to travel in a supersonic jet when you once had to walk.

Some people think it is best to do things the natural way than to rely on technology. But would you want to walk from one end of the Earth to another when you could fly there in a supersonic jet? You would not even think of doing that!

It is possible to walk from one end of the Earth to the other though, since all land is connected to each other from the North pole. The Earth is actually one flat piece of land wrapped around a sphere and not separate pieces across the globe. But without technology, we cannot travel to the deepest parts of the ocean or even to the moon.

The moment technology is developed, we got to use it. We either progress or regress. We never stand still. Advancement of technology is the result of advancement in knowledge. Changing the way we do things by adapting technology is the natural way of evolving our lives.

Of course, just because we have a supersonic jet, a car or even a motorized wheelchair to use doesn’t mean we do not train our ability to walk anymore. We still use what is natural but we incorporate the use of technology as well. So the best way to live is to use both nature and technology. We should never let technology dominate our natural abilities but we should use it to enhance them.

Technology is the natural result of man’s ability to think. So technology is actually part of nature. Technology and nature are one. The only difference between what is natural and unnatural is the use of it. Even things in nature can be used in unnatural ways.

Man has used the power of the mind to develop technology. Consequently man is able to use the power of technology to develop the mind. Mind develops technology to develop mind. At this age, humanity’s progress is going to accelerate even more than ever before.

A man was found to have virtually no brain at all. His head was bigger than normal size but his brain had shrunk to less than one millimeter of cerebral tissue covering the top of his spinal column. The student was suffering from hydrocephalus, the condition in which the cerebrospinal fluid, instead of circulating around the brain and entering the bloodstream, becomes dammed up inside thereby squashing the brain. His head was practically filled with fluid.

The 26 year old student (1976) at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom had walked into the university doctor’s office with complaints of a cold. Somehow though, he had lived a perfectly normal life. He had no signs of any mental deficiency, had an IQ of 126 and an honors degree in mathematics!

The brain is actually a receiver and not the total warehouse storing our consciousness. The brain is simply an instrument for the mind to communicate with the body. But the mind is not limited by the brain. It can even communicate with the body directly through nonlocal means.

You are not flesh. You are an energy being using a physical body to interpret and explore this reality. Studying matter from the perspective of energy helps you to understand and work with it even better.

Mind technology goes beyond the brain. It assist in unleashing the paranormal powers of the mind. With it, you can meditate at the push of a button, increase mental health, open up the sixth sense and sharpen your psychic abilities.

Over the years, the various gambling games and the gambling joints or the casinos have undergone a change, making the experience riskier, adventurous and unique in itself. An often overlooked, but yet important component in the entire casino experience is the food. The casino towns have a variety of buffets and joints to offer to its tourist population. Cities like Las Vegas, Atlantic and Monte Carlo are revolutionizing their food regime.

Las Vegas, the God of all gambling cities has moved from being just a casino city to has now become a complete recreational hub. The city’s primary focus for ages had on casinos. Incidentally, it left out the entire food experience. Consequently, it lost many of its tourists who were non serious gamblers. Investors and casino owners have now realized that with state lotteries and Indian casinos soon catching up, they need to diversify. Many resorts and casinos have now come up which promise a complete holiday. If this is not enough, restaurants with celebrity chefs coming from all over the world have a wide range of cuisines to offer. While Caesar’s Palace now has two dozen restaurants, Bellagio has the one of the best cuisines of the place. Numerous other dining joints offer a mix of various cuisines, like the Olives which has exotic Mediterranean – American dishes on its menu.

Vegas also has the famous Emeril Lagasse’s restaurants. The renowned chef, who has an entire range of cooking accessories attributed to him, opened the New Orlean’s Fish House in the MGM Grand Hotel. The menu chiefly comprises of sea food. Delmonico’s Steakhouse, another grand experience is well known for its bar and cigar collection. This Lagasse brainwave specializes in steaks.

Wolfgang Puck is another brand name in food design. Spago, a chain of hotels opened by Puck started business in Vegas in 1992. This famous chain is the Synonym of wealth and style. Situated in the Caesar’s Palace, this hotel offers both, light dishes and dinner. The menu includes oven pizzas and pastas. Postrio another one of Puck establishments offer the New American menu. The list comprises of fish and other sea food dishes. It also has a good wine collection. Other Puck restaurants in Vegas include Lupo and Chinois.

A factor that perhaps forced Atlantic City to catch up with the ‘new casino experience’ was its geographic location. New York and Connecticut have both seen an escalation in the number of casinos in the past years. This in turn has forced many gamblers to stay home and visit these weekend joints. The first step in the evolution of the Atlantic City’s casino front was the opening of a casino cum resort in 2003. The sea food buffets in the Atlantic are similar to those found in the Vegas. The Caesar’s Palace is the venue of a number of award winning restaurants of the place. Some of them include the Primavera, which is hugely dominated by the Italian Cuisine, Bacchanal which is a mini Rome, and Nero’s Grill , a famous steak and seas food restaurant.

Monte Carlo is situated between France and Italy, along the French Riviera. The city is a luxury niche which advertises its luxurious gambling experience. It boast various villas and secluded beaches, providing ultimate European comfort. Louis XV, a name that stands for wealth, royalty and prestige is an exclusive dining experience. The menu comprises of fish and local vegetables cooked in French style. Le Grill, another restaurant, popular for its Mediterranean view has grilled sea food on its food list.

For years, the gambling destinations have offered cheap sea food and buffets for the serious gamblers who visit these cities. The new resort concept, complete with its multi cuisine dining rooms, now promise to offer something more than just slot machines.

Over the years, the importance of binaural beats has increased a lot due to it being the most effective way of relaxing. Unlike what most people think, these beats are not a modern creation by any means as it was discovered back in the 1930’s. Though it is one of the less renowned relaxation procedures than its conventional counterparts, it’s one of the most effective ones.

How do they work?

These beats are nothing but sounds of two different frequencies emitted simultaneously. Though some people prefer to listen it through speakers, it’s best enjoyed by using headphones. You just need to load the track and plug in your headphones. You will hear beats and tunes of dual frequency in each headphone that will induce a feeling of a third tune. It’s as if the two tunes are mixing in your brain and producing a third tune. For instance, if in one ear you hear a sound with the frequency of 325 Hz and in the other ear you hear 300 Hz, the binaural beat created in your brain will be 25 HZ. The human brain consists of billions of particles that emit signals that instigate an electrical activity that can also be called as Brainwave patterns. These binaural beats help change these patterns so that you can immediately relax getting free of any stress. If you are into these relaxation tunes, you might find a binaural beats generator extremely helpful. There are several programs to cater to such needs, the most renowned two in the market are:-

• Neuro Programmer 3

It’s a program that produces entrainment of the brain wave and binaural beats that come equipped with sounds and tracks. With this program, adding or changing a track is extremely convenient. Moreover, you can also make your own beats right from the beginning.

• Mindzoom

This generator mainly emphasizes on creating subliminal and brainwave signals. It is extremely convenient to use which comes with dual sections that you can use to load a prior binaural beat or record your own.

Both this software is unique in their own way; the Neuro Programmer 3 is much more simple and versatile while MindZoom is more used to add your own subliminal messages. Whichever is chosen, both can offer exemplary results every time they are used. Over the years, these kinds of items gave gained much prominence due to its unique and out of the box approach. Several pieces of research have confirmed that be it stress, sleeping disorder, anxiety or any other psychological disorder; the safest cure is by listening to these binaural beats. There are several modes of relaxation that exists but in some ways or other, they also have certain side effects and is often time-consuming. Availing soundtracks from these generators can offer you the chance to sleep and relax peacefully every day. Usually priced at a very moderate level, you can avail them without any hassle whatsoever.

Brainwave Entrainment Exclusive Interview With Santa Claus

Over the past two months I have been writing a Christmas story. It is about Santa Claus and the remarkable sequence of events that befell a young girl living on the edge of the rainforest in Palawan, a tropical island where I live.

Of course, for such an apparently far fetched story, it was important to check out the facts. That was easy to do here in Palawan, but how could I interview somebody quite so famous as Santa Claus, who lived far away in a land where I would freeze to death as soon as I got off the airplane?

Well, it turned out to be more easy than I thought, and we met, believe it or not, close to a big firework display in Southern England on November 5th 2005. How I got there and how he got there, I am not allowed to say. In fact, I cannot say, simply because I do not know for sure. I can only speculate. My passport shows I was here; my wife tells me I was here; I tell myself I was here. But I was there, and this is what I can report from the notes I took at the interview. There was much more, but I am sworn to secrecy, and Santa Claus has such amazing powers, I would not go against his wishes.

These are the 3 questions, and answers, I am allowed to reveal.

Q1 There is much speculation amongst historians about your origins. Can you tell us, to put this straight once and for all?

(Roars of laughter from Santa) “The last people you should ask are historians. They can only look backwards. What a dumb life they lead; they can never find the truth like that. Life is multi dimensional; time is multi dimensional. What do historians and scientists know about all that? The truth is like a sun with all it’s planets rotating round. If you just look backwards, you miss the whole spectrum, and you miss the sun itself.

“What are my origins? My good man, you’re just a simple soul, like everyone else on the planet, so I know you mean ‘when and where do I come from’. I do have a birthday; in fact, I have many birthdays, and they are all true. But for your narrow little world, I was born in 701 AD.”

“But,” I said, “all the historians…….” his glare told me to be quiet about historians. That seemed like a good idea, given that they got it all totally wrong.

Santa was a tolerant and gentle man despite his massive powers. “And, young man” ( I had not been called that for a long time) he said. “You will not believe where I was born. It was not the North Pole, though I go there often. It was not Lapland, where I do now live. It was Central Africa.”

I was dumbfounded; he just laughed at me. I moved on quickly.

Q2 I have to ask, Santa, how do you get around the whole world like that, every Christmas, delivering gifts to so many millions of children? In less than 2 days. It’s just not..”

Before I could finish, he had put his hand firmly on my arm to stop me.

“Of course it’s possible. You think it’s not possible because your “scientists” say so, not because of the truth. Only the truth matters. And it is possible, because I do it every year. You say “not possible” because of the way you all look at things; narrow and blinkered. Even my blinkered reindeer know more than your silly scientists; so forget it’s not possible. I do it, and young man”, (I was really beginning to like this guy), he went on, “I just love every moment of it.”

“But……?” I was about to ask, but he stopped me again with a firm hand.

“Ok,” he said gently. “Let me just tell you about something. In the 8th century I was exploring brainwaves; your scientists don’t have an inkling yet about the brain, how it works, the brainwaves and what they mean and how you can use them. I was able to discover great things, things all the scientists have been too narrow minded in the past to seek out, understand and utilize.”

I was in his spell, listening intently to every word. He was about to reveal….

“Have you heard of Quantum Chimney Descent Theory? No, of course not. By 820 AD I had it all worked out; a year later I had discovered Time Corridors. You know time corridors? No, of course not, but I tell you young man, that was what did it, that was what enabled me to deliver gifts at Christmas all over the world.

“I then developed the Time Corridor Interweaving Theory. For the next 30 years I started to put them both into practice, and then bring them together. That my dear friend is how I get around the whole world like that and deliver gifts: by exploiting the Quantum Chimney Descent Theory in unison with Time Corridor Interweaving.

“Do you understand now?” he asked.

Well, who was I to argue, I might sound like a historian or scientist? So, that was it, I had the answers to the greatest Santa Claus question of all. I did not have a clue what he was talking about, but I am sure he anticipated that.

We went on to the final question as the firework display reached its climax.

Q3 What happens to all the mince pies and glasses of sherry that millions of children leave out for you?

Santa roared with laughter again, “oh, all the things people leave out for me; they are so sweet those children.
“But you know, their parents should tell them the truth; they should not deceive. It is their parents who drink the sherry and other alcoholic drinks. It’s just their excuse. I don’t drink the stuff, never did.

“But the mince pies, yes I do love a good mince pie. The children are so considerate leaving them for me, and I eat as many as I can in Australia. But over a million? I have to tell you, those mince pies get spread around all sorts of places. The creatures of the oceans and the forests are very much experts on mince pies now. But the year before last…..”

Santa saw my expression change.

“Aaah, we can’t say what happened that year, can we? It’s in your story. We mustn’t spoil your story.”

A moment later I awoke in my bed many thousands of miles away near the Sulu Sea. My wife was next to me; and funnily enough, I was next to her. When I went to my computer room a while later, I found my notebook. And what you have read above is what was written in it.

I really did like Santa Claus; “young man” indeed.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Over the past several centuries there have been multiple definitions of the word hypnosis. Yet these definitions too often reflect empirical observations rather than a true understanding the nature of hypnosis.

Looking at how history allowed the concept of hypnosis to evolve can provide at least a partial understanding of its essence. Unfortunately, the history of hypnosis normally starts off with an inaccurate myth. Many accord Anton Mesmer, MD, as the “Father of Modern Hypnosis” (Mesmer, 1980). Yet after reading his original works, it is fairly obvious that his activities can be more closely explained by the present practice of energy psychology and energy medicine rather than what is known as hypnosis today. Even though his patients responded to suggestion and many went into some type of altered state, this does not necessarily qualify him for his esteemed place in the history of hypnosis.Henry Munro, MD, discovered in the 1890s that a hypnotic state and specific suggestions allowed him to give reduced amounts of chemical anesthesia (1908). He came to realize that the number of deaths related to heart-stopping saturation – which resulted in deaths for one out of 400 surgery patients to whom ether or nitrous oxide was administered – could be stemmed by the use of hypnosis. This led him to encourage the founders of the Mayo Clinic to replicate his methodology. Munro’s “suggestive therapeutics” proved to be a very significant contribution to the history of hypnosis.

Sigmund Freud, MD, (1949) apparently rejected hypnosis. Some, including Elman (1964), felt that this was because he failed in his attempts to achieve efficient results. Freud then focused on psychoanalysis, which he based largely on the somewhat erroneous concept of the existence of an unconscious (or subconscious) mind. Until that point, the belief in a below-the-conscious-mind concept was not a factor in the development of hypnosis. However, Elman, Erickson, McGill, and the next several generations of hypnotists took up the subconscious mind mantra with blind obedience. (The term “unconscious” was coined by the German Idealist Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Shelling in 1800. It is a philosophical term that has unfortunately been picked up by the scientific community. It has absolutely no basis in scientific methodology and thought. Rather, it is used to demark a limitation of investigation, which has been largely dissolved by modern neuroscience.)

David Elman’s study of several of the classical hypnotists led to his highly opinionated conclusion that hypnosis is a process not a state – as suggested by James Braid, MD, who coined the term “hypnosis.” Elman insisted that hypnosis is a process in which the “critical factor is bypassed and selective thinking was allowed.” Due to their heated rivalry and the differences in their direct versus permissive approaches, many practitioners overly focus on the belief that Elman’s and Erickson’s underlying theories contradicted each other. Upon exhaustive review of the works of both men, it is obvious that there are more similarities than differences.

While practically all modern hypnosis researchers intellectually straddle Freud’s subconscious mind concept and Erickson’s permissive hypnotherapeutic process, they are consistently failing to synthesize these beliefs with recent findings in neurology and the emergence of a growing volume of mind/body research. This is apparent from reviewing a vast multitude of research documented by the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) (See PubMed). While the efficacy of hypnosis in the treatment of somatic and behavioral issues is supported, there is an almost universal belief that there is a lack of understanding about causation and a belief that additional research is warranted. However, many of the uncomfortable conclusions – which are echoed continually in the top two academic journals focused totally on hypnosis – are due to their insistence on defining hypnosis in terms of altered states, trances, and the subconscious mind. (Those two journals are the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and the International Journal of Clinical Hypnosis.)

Recent international neurological findings, to include advances in stroke treatment, the savant syndrome, neuro-plasticity, and mind/body literature (Doidge, 2007), clearly indicate that neuro-physiological changes occur when pattern resistance is reduced and substrates are inhibited. Transcranial Magnetics (TCM) investigators discovered (Walsh & Pascual-Leone, 2003) that this does not require trance. Also, it does not require the use of the mystical (and mythical) understanding of Freud’s subconscious mind. For instance, in an article on the Wisconsin Medical Society website, Treffert mentioned that when a “normal” person experiences an accident or illness that inhibits specific substrates, increased neural capabilities may result. He termed this the “acquired savant” or “accidental genius.” Additionally, Daniel Amen, MD, the Newport Beach child psychiatrist who pioneered the use of Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) scans as part of psychotherapeutic protocols, noticed that when a substrate is damaged or overactive it will affect the functioning of substrates nearby (2005). In summary, neuro-physiological changes occur without the use of trance or concentrating on subconscious mind concepts. (However, Amen does strongly believe in hypnosis as an intervention – even though his skill level or experience with hypnosis is not very extensive.)

The preponderance of recent research points to the fact that suggestions and imagery are effective in changing neuro-physiological patterns. And it is clear that once the interference of the left prefrontal cortex is negated, the efficiency of suggestions and imagery is enhanced. The presence of Synchronous Alpha or Theta brainwaves – otherwise considered an altered state or trance state – may create a situation where both the left prefrontal cortex resistance is mitigated and excessive anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) activity is reduced: thereby enhancing the function of nearby substrates. However, this is not a requirement for suggestion and imagery to impact transformation. Bypassing resistance and preventing or calming ACC hyperactivity can be achieved without an altered state.

To focus on understanding hypnosis as a state limits its usefulness. The utilitarian aspect of hypnosis lies in the realm of enhancing health, performance, and happiness through more effective use of the human mental faculty. Therefore, it is more useful and practical to consider hypnosis as a process. This must then focus on the ability for humans to employ the process of selective thought to create change. The application of imagination to selectively direct thoughts in order to affect neuro-physiological patterns should be the intent of both the clinician and an individual using self-help techniques. The success of this process will be found by increasing the efficiency of selective thought. It seems that this efficiency is indirectly correlated with the ability to increasingly negate resistance.

Compounding suggestions is one of the most potent tools for improving the efficiency of selective thought. This supports the fact that the tendency of human enterprise – down to the cellular level – is to adjust to new patterns once it becomes clear that resistance is futile. Newly developed patterns further ease our movement toward additional adaptations. The brain’s tendency to at least partially rely on newly formed patterns is the rationale behind the success of repetitive or compounded suggestions. This fully supports Hebb’s “use it or loose it” theory (1949) regarding the strengthening of neural pathways through repetition and the demise of unused networks. Therefore, if the term hypnosis is to be used in conjunction with this process, the following definition gains a high level of relevance and credibility:

Hypnosis is a process in which neuro-physiological patterns are transformed through increasingly efficient selective thought.

This definition does not use the concept of the subconscious mind or trance state. Also, it does not assume volition or will. Furthermore, this means that a phrase such as induce hypnosis is semantically incorrect.

This definition is much closer to that of David Elman, who insisted on the “bypass of the critical factor and allowance of selective thinking” approach (1964). Although he was relegated to obscurity once Erickson got the American Medical Association (AMA) to accept hypnosis and he founded his organization, in many ways Elman’s definition was ahead of his time. (Elman was a contemporary and friend of Freud’s nephew and was very vocal in his support of Freud’s concept of the subconscious mind.) Nevertheless, despite the fact that many find him less credible due to his involvement with stage hypnosis and his lack of either medical or psychology credentials, his lifelong study of the work of respected clinicians with those qualifications greatly contributed to the development of his knowledge.

Over the last couple of days, I have been listening to ‘The Astonishing Power of Emotions’ by Esther and Jerry Hicks and have had an amazing revelation. Like me perhaps you have found that with the second or third time of listening to an audio or reading a book, that a light bulb moment happens and you have a greater understanding of the words than you had before.

Now I would like to help you experience that light bulb moment for yourself.

This excellent book teaches us how to use our emotions as a guide, so we can apply the Law of Attraction to our best advantage.

You will soon see that in every instance to complete the attraction process you have to master the Law of Allowing. And as you absorb this information, you’ll see why lots of people are not successful when using the law of attraction for a specific purpose.

The reality is that most of us are so used to striving to achieve goals and fighting our way through life, that letting go and allowing an outcome to arrive in its own time is difficult for us to do.

The truth of the matter is, allowing is the opposite of striving. Please let that sink in for a moment.

Jerry Hicks uses the analogy of rowing a boat. He explains that the process of allowing is the difference between rowing a boat upstream versus letting the current take you gently downstream. The light bulb moment for me was the instruction to just let go, letting the current take you along. So, what is the lesson? It is simply that you need to let go of a specific outcome, let go of expectations, let go of trying to control our family, friends, workmates and environment.

If you are like me the thought of letting go, relaxing and allowing the Universe to bring to me the things I desire in its own time is such a relief. Really think about, what a wonderful thing it is … to just let go… to relax… and let our thoughts bring about our desires.

Now, let me ask you this, have you focused your thoughts on what you want and then worried about how it will come about, or wondered if it is even possible?

Just think about it, as soon as you start doing this you are, in fact, sending out the complete opposite vibration to what you want. The result being that you receive the opposite of what you are asking for.

Are you beginning to see how essential it is not to dwell on the many possible outcomes? By letting go of the outcome, very often something happens that is even better than you hoped for, or appears from a completely different source that you have no knowledge of now.

If you find it hard to turn off those thoughts, don’t worry. All you have to do instead is make the following suggestion to yourself. “I am really looking forward to receiving … and I know that the Universe can bring this to me in many varied and miraculous ways”

It is widely known that the law of attraction works on the emotions that we produce, and thus the energy is released that attract like to like. What this all means is that the act of letting go and relaxing gives us the good vibrations that we need to attract the best to us.

Like many of us, I am normally a goal oriented person and the thought of letting go was anxiety producing, as I like to be in control. However, imagine doing the opposite, being given the permission if you like, of letting the monkeys slide off your back. It makes sense doesn’t it? When you try to control everything, strive and fight for what you want, you can never produce the good energy through your feelings and thoughts that will attract to you your hopes and dreams.

The very things we do actually push away what we want and just bring more of the same disappointments to us.

The law of attraction in a way is so simple. Keep focusing on what you want, generate the emotions that vibrate with what you want, then relax and allow those wishes to materialize for you.

This doesn’t mean that you take no action at all, but you take a different kind of action. Yes, of course down the track you may have to take some actions to help those dreams along. However, this would be an action with a difference. That is taking action when prompted to by the Universe. Any action you are prompted to do in this way would be without any feeling of striving or stress that you would normally feel, when trying to force change. These actions are ones which make you feel good. The catalyst for these actions could be an unexpected door opening to a new opportunity, or the Universe may use a dream or give you a brainwave that comes out of the blue to show you the way.

So, see yourself mastering the Law of Allowing, and then why not try an experiment? Think of one thing that you would like to manifest for yourself. I suggest just a small thing, as this will give you practice and also confidence to move on to bigger requests in the future.

Think of this desire with emotion and bring up all the very best thoughts you can about it. What it will feel like when it arrives? Smile as you look forward to how the Universe is going to bring this request to you. Find it exciting and interesting to watch how the vibration activates the attraction to manifest this desire. Do this with no preconceived thoughts of the process, and be prepared to be amazed at the outcome.

Now picture yourself five years from now when you have mastered the art of allowing. Your life would be entirely different.

Clearly, the bottom line is to find the better feelings and thoughts in all that you do. This will reduce your stress and set up a constant vibration that is attracting all your hopes and dreams into your life.

Out of the many people that suffer from insomnia, there are at least a third that can attribute their sleeping issues to not being able to stop thinking about things. You can’t seem to turn off your brain. You have tons of things from the day replaying, and you may also be thinking about what you need to do the next day. Unfortunately, this is not helpful. One of the main ideas behind sleeping is so that the brain has the rest that it needs, free from most major activities. When you sleep, your brainwaves are operating at the lowest possible level. Learning how to cure insomnia means learning how to shut off your brain.

The first thing that you need to do in your efforts to learn how to cure insomnia is make sure that you are forgetting about the day’s events when you walk through the door at the end of the day. If there are certain things that you need to remember for the next day, write them down and be done with it. Don’t dwell on what hasn’t happened yet.

Learning how to cure insomnia also means that you may need to try some simple relaxation techniques. Try some meditation. Meditation has been tested in real scientific tests and has been proven to show that when you meditate for at least 20 minutes a day, you can effectively relax the body and mind. When used before bed, meditation can help make you feel sleepy enough to fall asleep without issues
