Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

When you are on the road to leaning hypnosis, what you need to understand is that when you are trying to get a subconscious mind technique, what is out there is a whole host of technology and options. When you look at the literature online of how you are going to master this art, you will realise that there are plenty of methods you can learn and adopt the methods to get hypnotism in your life, and this editorial will talk about some of the ways you can actually do this within a few easy steps.
For one thing, what you need to do of course, is to get yourself into a quiet environment, and this is one of the important stepping stones of gaining some hypnotic ability. You can choose a room in your house, or you can connect with nature if you feel that whatever you have within the halls of your house or your city is not enough. Of course, what makes and works is what you should be looking for. One of the best places I have found useful is your room in the middle of the night, and of course by the fireplace.
Another thing you need to note is that music is a really important part of the process, and what you can do is to actually download some relaxing and soothing mp3’s or perhaps buy some music that have been engineered specially for this purpose. Sounds of nature or perhaps something like soft classic music are good choices and what you can do is actually combine this with some aromatherapy as music and the power of smell is also really good for you to relax your mind and sink into your subconscious – two of the very important tactics.
Of course when you are thinking about hypnotism, most of the self hypnotism is done when you are not truly under, but in a place of extreme bliss and what you can do is to combine this with some positive affirmation messages as well. And of course, you should know that these methods are best done in a controlled environment and one thing that you need to do of course, is to get someone to help you do this for the first time, and make sure that you do not go off tangent when you are trying to actually try to hypnotise yourself.
The last note of this article is actually a little retrospect on the current methodologies of hypnotism. For one thing, more and more people are leaving the idea of hypnotism and moving towards much more advanced methods of subconscious persuasion with technologies like brainwave entrainment and subliminal persuasion. Of course, you can look up and read all about these new technologies and methods of mental self improvement over the web, and the best thing about this, is that you can gain access to these technologies just an order away. For some self hypnosis is a dated method that cannot be compared to them.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.
This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.
On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.
Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.
THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ‘mind-tripping’, enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.
While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.
We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person’s starting position, entrainment can be rather ‘hit and miss’.
If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you’re probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain’s strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.
